PostSubject: Working out   Tue Mar 31, 2009 9:28 pm

Alright so today I worked out for a long session for the first time ever
I need some hints for you fellow gymers
So my friend who gained 30 pounds in muscle from this year helped me out
I was doing sitting ups on this machine with 140 pounds, 5 reps
Almost died
Never again
Until tomorrow
What are some friendly tips?
Is that too much weight to start off?
How do you know when you should stop
And how do you cool down?
I had to bike home afterwards, and I was boiling hot in a cool weather

i am truly not sure
after having a part time job as a roadie, i got pretty strong from that
i could beat most of the jocks at my school at lifting, though i wasnt as muscular
first, you should ask dirty gurdy if you see him again. But what i can tell you is this
go small with the lifting at first, then go larger. That is too much weight to be putting on your muscles and body. you know when to stop when your arms start giving out on you, the burn is good lol, but dont make it so its starts hurting you. to cool down, i get some water and take a breather lol. I honestly don't know, that's from when i used to work out

Now my chest is killing me
My friends are pushing me so much though
Damn the younger kids in the gym lifting way more
I am far behind
What is a good weight for dumbells in two hands?

once a week at the least for a couple hours
also drink milk and do push ups and sit ups and jog if you got time
that always works

ok, i have taken a nutrition class (same class as dirtygerdy.....he is the real person to ask)
but here is some good info, or so i beleive

for muscle: low reps high weight. like 10 reps of 10 increase by 5 lbs per week.
for conditioning and toning: high reps, low weight so like 10 reps of 30 or sth. enough to get you breathing really hard

and the key to building muscle is to NOT go ONLY once a week. to really see development, you really should go every other day or at least 3 times a week. i was never one for long workouts, the longest i could keep my sanity and heart rate was for like 1-2 hours. i was in for 2 hours cuse i needed the time for my gym class.

what i did
1) warm up, take a brisk walk, riding your bike to the gym is excellent
2) cardio: i ran like a mother f-er. i did 5 miles, and i was NOT in shape, it took me under 1 hour. so do like 2 miles in under 25 min EASILY
3) cool down: walk a bit so you cant hear your heart any longer
4) water
5) start lifting: i moved around so i did biceps, then quads, then triceps, then hammies, then shoulders, then pecs. i never liked doing roughly the same muscle group next to eachother.
6) stretch again
7) bike home

someone correct me, but that sounds like a decent workout
as far as the diet goes....i was never to sure on that. as a rule of thumb for healthy people, 30% of your daily energy should come from saturated fats. 60-70% from carbohydrates.

my teacher also mentioned for loosing fat: 3500 calories in 1 lb of fat. so you can either NOT eat 500 calories a day for 1 week and loose a lb, OR even better, work it off.

stay away from the refined sugars. oh, and i think a wives tale is protien boosting. yeah.....it helps, but drinking eggs before the gym isnt necessary unless you are like gerdy lol.

oh, and remember to stay hydrated. the feeling of almost passing out from 0 water is a sh!tty feeling


Hope that helps. again, i could be WAY off base with this....but i think this is somewhat sane

I go 3-4 times a week, during holidays every day, important thing is to only do what you can, push yourself to your limits but never beyond or you'll never want to go back. Find weights that are comfortable for you but not too easy, its all about getting into routine and rythm at the start, even if that means lifting weights below what you can.

I reccomend you start a Good Diet Based in Proteins (to get some pounds)
And combine It with come CARDIO...

here is the long story byd......do you know how muscles are formed?

well, when a muscle is strained and worked out....tiny fissures happens in the muscles. slowly, the body rebuilds the torn tissue and makes it stronger. the same things happens with like badass karate. the guys break boards and get microscopic fissures in the bone. they build over time and become stronger and calcified. thats why some people can break like concrete and massive ice blocks withought killing themselves.
Steroids actually reduces the time in which muscle grows back. thats why it is unfair. so people on steroids can work out....go about their day and hit the gym a second time in a day b/c their muscles have grown back

NOW, first week is always the hardest. but if you are having trouble like reaching for items on a counter or picking up sth, take a 2 or 3 day break, but eventually you should be working out every day or every other day.

Im on 240pounds...but 1.93H.....So it kinda helps....then i need to start going on to the Gymnasium..GYM and Beat some Pokemon Masters.

I have no problem doing too much. But I realize that I can hurt myself if I do too much. What are signs of overload? It hurts when I straighten my arm

well, idk how to tell, but all that miserable feeling should be gone at the end of a week or so.

and you cant hurt from exerxising too much....unless you herniate yourself or break sth. if you cant do it, your body wont allow you to continue.
i guess.....but im sure im wrong on that

weights will make you muscular...duh. but you can possibly lift enough to notice a difference in like 2 weeks. i went twice a week for 3 months and my wight stayed the same. i think i imagined my arms slightly bigger

Here's my exercise:

Warmup: i walk to my chair

Cardio: I play videogames for a few hours, this also helps me build strength in my thumbs

Muscle Building: Then i get up and walk to my computer chair, where i will exercise all of my fingers typing on this message board and other networking sites.

Cooldown: Ice cold Mountain Dew and some other types of junk food


So far i've gotten pretty damn good results.

Well I got 3 months of school so hopfully my friend will get me to at least fit into my suit better

Everyday my friends all at the table are like OMG THAT IS A GIANT SANDWICH

I am huge in every conceivable way lol, size 12 shoes, 6' 6" tall, 300 or so lbs, a few other ways..... But, i do have quite a bit of muscle left over from football

my parents are under 5'5
im the giant in the house....a whopping 5'7" i used to be like 130. but now i hit college and im 150
all flub

in high school as a freshman, i must have been 5'0 and 90 lb

im compact

but now, im surprisingly normal! yay

Heh i'm trying to put on weight, but doing it while doing regular excercise (and apparently having some sort of mild eating disorder) is kind of hard :/

well, not eating has side effects. i might look up the effects but in a bit. i dont want to have you scared lol. i think mostly it is small health problems. getting sick easily.....and so on
