I have no problem with animal slaughter for consumption
What I have a problem with is people abusing their own dogs and cats
for usually no ****ing reason. It just strikes me at my core

Ok, i think the slaughter of animals for food in my opinion is necessary, though their methods could be less graphic. Most of the time, they just need to kill them, not make them suffer

well
when you see a nice steak or a good bacon in your breakfast....you think it grows from trees??
NO..
I've been in lots of slaughterhouses.
I always asked...WHY IT HAS TO BE SO GRAPHIC?
WHY THEY CANT USE OTHER METHODS?
well you cant poison the cows....the meat will be poisoned..
You cant shoot them cuz the meat will have powder in it.
You cannot Gas them cuz welll you gonna intoxicate.
So the most efficient way is to ****ing Gut their Throats....Chop their heads...Smash their brains with a hammer..

there is not such thing as UNPAINFULL SLAUGHTER METHODS.
BULLSHIT imo.

what I meant is they dont have to poison them
but like smashing their brain stems so they can't feel it would help
not to sound horrible or too brutal

Cutting the animals throats are one of the most humane ways of killing an animal for consumption. The graphic nature of it can't really be helped. They can't drug the animals either, because that would inturn drug the meat. And yes, I hate cruelty to animals for no other reason to be cruel or everyone else is doing it. But the very first group you citied is also slightly radical in their methods. Humane shelters are perfectly fine, as are any civily obediant group. PETA is just outrageous though, and would prefer us to be vegans, saying we are killing our fellow creatures. News Flash to them, Plants live too. I'll get off my soap box now.

That was logical EPhear, so i tend to agree. I do believe that PETA wanted to rename fish Sea Kittens, so that is just plain FAIL!

Those commercials really destroy my heart to Link. I don't know why, but I have A massive soft spot for animals. It just seems to their innocence that gets to me, and all of the humans who just treat them like dirt. Thanks for mentioning that Link, I'm glad I'm not the only one

and EPhear, I completely agree. Your argument is valid and even transcends the religious boundaries. I usually bring up the fact that I believe god made animals for human consumption, but of course not everyone believes the same thing. And they need to make it as humane as possible. I saw a video on the news that showed people slamming chickens into the walls by their necks while unloading them from the trailer. That is just plain wrong

I can't act impressed. Stuff like this happens all the time. A lot of times when people lose their homes they simply walk away and lock their pet, like a dog, up in the closet. Sometimes a dog will be found dead inside the closet with scratch marks all over the door...it's attempt to escape the pain of starvation and perhaps dream of being reunited with its family. You can only react to so much and then you simply lose your ..."humanity".

Slaughtering animals for food isn't really necessary. Getting food from plants is far more efficient and I'm sure the nutritional issue could be quite easily solved. I'm not a for or against kind of person though. I just realize why different people want different things. I personally think it would be best for everyone if we limited population growth through domestic means and moved slowly towards a society consisting of purely herbivores. Of course there are consequences for any change but that doesn't mean it might not be the lesser of the two evils. What's best for everyone isn't necessarily what's best for one person though.

Some people torture animals because it makes them excited. People who are like that unfortunately often lack good self-control.

I did that post late at night and I wasn't really satisfied with it. I was making a greater than statement when I said that a herbivore society would be best, overall, for everyone. There is no agreed upon basis for measuring such though so it was a meaningless statement. I do stand by my statement that plants are a more efficient source of energy but now that I read it I find that it's kind of vague. I was referring to the chain of energy...energy from the sun goes to the plants and much of the energy is lost in the form of heat, energy from the plants goes to the herbivores/omnivores where much of the energy is lost from heat, heat from the herbivores/omnivores goes to the omnivores/carnivores where more energy is lost from heat, etc.

Personally I eat animals because it is beneficial to me. That's my reason.
