Fallen Angels, by Walter Dean Myers

I wrote this book review for an english project, what do you guys think?

Fear. This one word describes the overall feeling of the novel Fallen Angels, by Walter Dean Myers Walter Dean Myers is an African American author who has written many novels, such as “Scorpions”, “Somewhere in the Darkness”, and “Monster”, and has received many awards for his work. Fallen Angels is a historical fiction novel set during the Vietnam War. The novel begins with Perry, Peewee, Johnson, and Brunner, men who joined the United States military for different reasons. The men meet each other in Vietnam after they are shipped out, and soon find that joining the military wasn't as easy as they thought it would be. Faced with many trials, such as fallen comrades and commanders, the men start to value their lives more than ever. The novel does a fantastic job of showing the fear and anxiety that the men feel during their tour of vietnam, which is largely a fear of the unknown. They begin to question why they are there, when the war is going to end, and much more. Another way the men feel anxiety is the way there is so much loose talk about the war ending, Which makes them anxious to return home. As soon as I began the novel, I realized that it was going to be an action packed war novel, but that it would also feature strong emotions, showing how war affected the soldiers. The novel was a fantastic read for me; it featured many action sequences and a gripping storyline. You never knew what was going to happen to the men, because they didn't know what was going to happen. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of historical fiction or general war stories, because this novel is one of the best I have read in that genre, because it features more than just your standard war story. From racial trials, to the theme of friendship and heroism, this novel has many motifs, symbols, and metaphors. This novel has won many awards and received generally favorable reviews, and is one of the best books I have read.

Great reveiw. You discribed the book, stated your opinion, and didn't waste time on anything that didn't matter. The only think I might suggest would be pointing out something you didn't like about it (if there is anything of course lol.)
