Fallout: New Vegas is an upcoming game announced by Bethesda Softworks on April 20, 2009 at its London showcase[1]. While New Vegas is not a direct sequel, it will be in the same style as Fallout 3 and will be developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a company founded by developers who left Black Isle Studios. Based on the title, it will be set in Las Vegas. It has a projected release date of 2010 and will be available on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Setting

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world following The Great War between the US and China, a conventional and nuclear war that occurred on October 23, 2077 and lasted less than two hours despite causing immense damage and destruction. Before The Great War were the Resource Wars, during which the United Nations disbanded, a plague rendered the United States paranoid, and Canada was annexed.

Story

The game will probably take place in post-apocalyptic Las Vegas, which was previously only mentioned in the first Fallout. The story will not be related in any way to the one in Fallout 3.

Developers

Fallout: New Vegas is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a company founded by Feargus Urquhart and Chris Avellone, two of the makers of Fallout 2 (originally at Black Isle Studios). It is not currently known whether Avellone and Urquhart will be involved. The entire development team is not yet known, but it is known that the project is led by J.E. Sawyer, one of the lead designers of Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 project by Black Isle Studios.

Known developers:

* J.E. Sawyer - project director and lead designer
* John R. Gonzalez - lead creative designer
* Akil Hooper - designer
* Scott Everts - designer
* Fryda Wolff - sound designer
* Theresa Treadwell - associate producer
* Brian Menze - artist
* Sean Dunny - artist

Other people at Obsidian who worked on previous Fallout games include Chris Jones, Chris Parker, Darren Monahan, Jesse Reynolds and Rich Taylor. At least some of them are likely to be on the New Vegas team.

I can't wait!!!! This will help keep me sane waiting for the next Elder Scrolls game.

I am going to start this comment out like a little b.tch
GODAMMIT. Make another elder scrolls! It is triple the game fallout will ever be. Its so emo!

But seriously, I take this as good news. Destroyed Vegas? Interesting. Neat
I'd give this game a solid 8.9/10
I'd buy it, but not full priced

I will probably wait overnight for it to be released like Fallout 3....

but see, Bethesda isn't making this one. It's Obsidian. Bethesda is just producing it, so their development team is probably working on the next Elder Scrolls project now. But I definitely agree. Fallout is FANTASTIC, but The Elder Scrolls is by far my favorite game series. Fallout doesn't compare to The Elder Scrolls

I am partial to killing innocent civilians with my homemade lightning spell called "force lightning" and chopping them to bits with a large axe personally, but I guess I'm just old fashioned.....

lol Gears 'O War meets Oblivion. I just want them to put crossbows and throwing stars and sh!t back in. I want the depth of Morrowind, with the amazing engine and combat system of Oblivion. I can say right now, that game would not leave my console for a good 6 months.....

Dude Link, Fallout is good and I love it, but you don't even understand how much of my life has been eaten away by Oblivion and Morrowind. Fallout is lasting me a good while, but it was nothing like The Elder Scrolls.
