Don't worry, BYD is here to help. If you are looking to write one spicy essay or ad, use some of these 12 rhetorical english devices that are sure to make an impression. I am of course excluding metaphor and simile as they are obvious. I am a godamn nerd

1. Asyndeton- A climatic build up using lists
Example- Blackstar is stunning, strong, heroic.

2. Anaphora- Repetition before a descriptive word
Example- Over the weekend, Styx beat up too many punks, too many gangsters, and too little jerks!

3. Understatement- Usually unimportant and to add irony, or humour.
Example- Brute has been using cameras all his life, I think he knows a little bit about photography

4. Polysyndeton- Adds heavy emphasis to a list, however this is super annoying sometimes
Example- Lina sang and ate and drank and partied.

5. Amplication- Extra detail is added to original point
Example- Brute has a beard, a red long delicious beard.

6. Apophasis- A very tactful way to bring up a subject without talking about it
Example- Axeforehire, I trust that I wont have to remind you to kill that mercenary tonight.

7. Epistrophe- Another way of using repetition to your advantage
Example- Shady's arms are huge, his legs are huge, his thing is huge.

8. Hypophora- Ask a question, then proceed in answering it, very good transition from a difference topic
Example- Why is Vacucous the smartest guy ever you say? Well its because he is very educated.

9. Rhetorical Question- Ask a question that you don't intend to answer because it is obvious. This allows the audience to start thinking like you.
Example- How is it that hate is such a legend?

10. Aposiopesis- When a writer leaves a thought hanging. Adds concern to others
Example- So I picked up the phone, it was Aledra. But it turns out that she was right beside me. So then that means...

11. Antithesis- A comparison
Example- As Dies Ire's strength grows, his compassion fades.

12. Eponym- Using a celebrity to add emphasis or sarcasm
Example- Hate is pretty much Arnold Schwarzenegger with his arsenal

With these devices, you are sure to add interest. This took forever to write lol. Hope you enjoyed its mild humour and hope you learned something

Cool list of language devices. I only knew 2 or 3 of those. By the way I think you have the coolest sub-title ever for your user name.

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".
