Aliens, only without the awesomeness. I was quite clear Very Happy

Dudes in space, with some innerspace (Quaid) caught with nasty alien creatures... a story as old as Ridley Scott.

I saw a Canadian film called Pontypool a couple of days ago, it was a cool apocalyptic / end of the world / zombie type film but you don't actually see anything going on in terms of violence or hoorific stuff. Instead you hear everything taking place over the radio airwaves as the film is set in a radio station, so the viewer has to rely on the use of their imagination to interept everything that is occuring. Definitely worth a watch.

Zodiac.

Great film, but then again I enjoyed Robert Graysmith's books. Probably the most interesting serial killer to study, not least because he's never been caught.

Just watched Global Metal. Not bad really for how big of an undertaking it was but it certainly wasn't as complete as it should have been and spent far too much time in some segments and nowhere near enough in others. Overall it was 3/5 and worth a watch but could have been far more detailed.

Yeah really it was just Asian and Middle Eastern. And again not a bad effort by any means but it certainly deserved more time and perhaps a sequel to hit some more regions and countries like Africa as you said. That I'm rather unfamiliar with I must admit.

Because they had cameras designed and made especially for the film, for effects and to make the best and truest 3D picture possible. Lots of money on effects basically which means dick if the acting is terrible, which is why I'm still unconvinced.

oooh. the movie is 3d?

that makes sense.
cuse now huge projects that have massive rendering needs are far cheaper than they were 3 years ago. but yes, if it is 3d, a "true 3d camera" is way expensive.

disney is going through some of their old movies, converting them into "fake 3d" and then relasesing to video or theaters.
its great, since pixar and disney movies are all animated, its already in the computer, so theu spend like a months worth of work just copy-pasting and then reap the benefits

I think effect heavy movies can work well, but it has to have everything else to go with it. A classic example is Jurassic Park. No one had done effects like that, but the movie itself was great. I mean the story is believable. Scientists are actually working on bringing back the woolly mammoth using the basic idea of using found DNA and transplanting it into another animal's egg, in this case an elephant, but it was well told, and you had the great cinematic moments like with the ripples in the water cup.

The Matrix is also brilliant, even if the sequels suffer.

Then, like you say, you have your Transformers which is pretty poor.

The fact that though he's done some poor films (Titanic), James Cameron has also directed some of my favourite films ever, particulally Aliens, gives me some hope.

matrix is amazing. if that happens to be on cable when i flip channels i will watch it. so great.
transformers 1 (from a technical standpoint) was epic. ehhh, take or leave megan fox and shia and their "acting" but the effects were fantabulous. i still am blown away by the amount of debris. that still makes me gawk at the screen.

i have yet to see titanic. its like im missing out on some grand joke. i hear it is awesome and a film for the ages. i shall watch it soon.

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

You could watch paint dry for 3 hours and claim to have watched it... no one would notice.

I just can't be bothered with Titanic because I can't stand romance films. They're all the same! Two people fall in love then either one or both of them dies or they live happily ever after.

The Shawshank Redemption has just taken the #1 spot in my favorite movies list.
