Alright lol here is the top ones I categorized
The Love song
I died for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMA62CsFvzg

Pretty much the only aggressive thrash song that sounds like Judas Priest
Dante's Inferno http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmLo7Cmndr8

The most typical power metal song that I am 97% that you will love
Ten thousand strong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM4CDLmDx_Y

The sad remembrance patriotic song
When the eagle cries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o6xrSyhVhc

The song that has mention of the singer dying for his beliefs.
Melancholy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTYPSRIO0o4&feature=related

The song that starts off really slow and slowly gets more intense until eventually it turns into an epic story
Dracula http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj5JSYiNrcc&feature=related

The other typical catchy song about fighting and making a last stand "Give me death, I'll fight till my last breath"
Declaration Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAWrlwzfFzk&feature=related

Plenty to choose from, pick what sounds the most interesting to thee

They're okay, I enjoyed "Dante's Inferno". But they seem to be a pretty average band, but pretty solid

If I know the song I won't listen to it. I usually listen to a song for about 30 seconds, and if I don't get into it I will shut it off. Otherwise I try to listen to it all.

yeah, same here. if i have seen it, i dont listen
if it is sth i havent seen, depending on where i am, there is a 50% chance i will watch one video.....if i like it, then there is a 50% chance i watch the next one, if i dont, then the chances drop....highly mathematical....and way stupid

iced earth is hit or miss...i think i have dracula and one other song, but i never got into them
and i would have supposed that axe would have liked this band

I don't click on anything described as deathcore, black metal, technical death etc etc because I know I wont like it, and if I watch it and dislike it I tend to say so, and there's no point in me bashing other peoples music just because it's not to my taste when I know other people will get enjoyment out of it.

The only metal I set out to bash is that porngrind s***, I mean wtf is that? lol

I honestly don't know the difference between Death Metal and Brutal Death metal. How can you just say this is the same genre, but this band is way more brutal. And what is technical death? I understand that Melodic death metal is when the guitars sound pleasant when the vocals are harsh. And normal death metal is that the instruments simply aren't melodic. So I gotta ask? What is metalcore, deathcore, or whatever other genres of metal that are too heavy to be called simply metal or melo death, but not evil enough to be called black metal?
I am truly baffled at the amount of genres that don't seem any different. Lyrics should not invent a new genre

Lyrics dont the difference in Brutal death and Tech death is in the musicianship. And death metal and black metal are quite a bit different ok I'll give a run down.

Brutal Death
Suffocation- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HI8ta-ShU4
Aborted- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGkU_ZgOWfs&feature=fvst

Techical Death
Decapitated- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfRT5FZYI10&feature=fvst
Necrophagist- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SRD6mjrUMo

I really hope you can see a distinct difference in the tuning and the style.

I'm just going to ignore that fact considering Suffocation are one of my favorite bands but thats beside the point. Tech death is about just that technicallity its the prog of death metal. Brutal death is more streight up about sound in general its simpler and I tend to like more simple music. Again I'll never understand what the total hang up is on "technicallity" its overrated to me. I agree with Buzz on that one.

I still can't really differentiate
Brutal Death
Death metal
And technical death
The songs still sound like the same style to me

The technical song sounded more simple, no real break in the singing
The Brutal death one I liked because it had a crazy solo in the middle

Iced Earth are just a whole bunch of awesome; Burnt Offerings and Alive in Athens rank as two of my very favourite albums. Matt Barlow is a demon vocalist and Scahffer qualifies as one the great rhythmn guitarists of all time.

Yeah man. I put up I died for you on youtube
Soooooo much positive feedback from everyone
I learned about Iced Earth 3 years ago when I was walking around in Nova Scotia I saw a guy wearing an Iced Earth t-shirt
I'm like OMFGZ that is the best band name ever. So the moment i got home I listened up and then I was pleasantly surprised. They mix battle songs and love songs so well together

I give up then Dies Irae is the death expert around here so maybe he can give a better descirption of the difference.

I want to eliminate the amount of genres just as they want to eliminate as many words as possible

i think i can tell the difference when given 10 songs and told to identify each. i think my success rate would be 80 or 90%. but i cant describe it. the best way, is just....well technicality. everything seems ridiculous. i think giving suffocation as an option was a little more challenging cuse their solo was balls awesome.
if you take a driving test on techincallity, it is how fast you can maneuver the car and speed getting it around corners. brutal death is like a punch to the face....hence the ridiculous double bass

Ahahaha but both songs sounded ridiculous in a way to me
Didn't sound like one group was more instrumental then the other
But like you said
I'd have to hear 10 each

The problem is brutal and technical often overlap, as evidenced with bands like Nile and Decapitated. A pure brutal death metal band, like Hour of Penance will be more percussive and focus on chords and low end riffs, mostly dropped into c, constant blast and often feature a very guttural vocalist. Tech death often features more jazz/fill based drumming, emphasis on licks and leads with long riff progressions played at fast speed, often spanning a great deal of the fretboard, and bass is usually more noticable.

Brutal:

Technical:

There I can tell a difference
The brutal one is simply really bass orientated and with a constant stream of low growls
Whereas the technical one has a slight change of tempo every once in a while
Its alright, I wouldn't listen to them freely

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

psycroptic.....i forget the name.....it was fantabulous....but those vocals just annoy me. i guess it just has to grow on you. too range-y and nasely...then too deep and not with much power....very odd, i cant describe it

Hmm, most people adore Chalky (indeed I think he's a great vocalist). However you may prefer the new stuff since Chalky left, with Jason as the vox man:

a little more my style. the barking is good. the chorus is a little metalcore-ish which is what i like....not dissing anything here....just a little weaker vocals on the chorus.....yes much better song

He's pretty good too, not as original as Chalky but he's still good. Psycroptic are actually rather good I may want to look into them some more.
