PostSubject: System of a down   Fri Aug 07, 2009 9:45 pm

I typed an incredible amount only for me to accidently close the window. Godammit fml

Alright so I guess I'll make this short and brand new.
System of a down is the motif of novelty in my life. They are like my parents. They turned me into who I am. After years of straight listening to what they had to say, I began to grow tired of it. Until recently I have decided that it is in my best interest to put some effort back into these guys. They turned me into a metalhead and I bought my first metal cd. Meszmerize. Whenever I was unhappy I would simply listen to these songs and straight up memerize them. I have sufficient knowledge of the lyrics and the meanings behind most of these. I had typed up a good pages worth of information, but it was just so discouraging to see it all go, I spent so much time on it too. I guess I'll just recommend a wide variety of songs.

Old school SOAD that is straight up metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr5ltqQf1QA
A beautiful song that picks up in intensity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZdL1BupbhU
I'd really like to see a rapper trying to sing as fast as Serj does in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4-DFsITeiU
A slower melodic song that really emphasizes the cruelties of the world http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYpXvptY3wY
If you do not like this song you are straight up a philistine. So much meaning and a HUGE variety in tempo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z920P56adxM

Well there is one song from each album. I thought I'd try to give something back to the metal zone. *Sigh* my long story of experiences is gone. Ah well, try to enjoy anything. Hopefully someone will like one of those songs

dude, i went through a system phase. i mean, i lived and breathed system. in a way, you have given back to the metal zone. you reminded me how much i like system. maybe not so much now, but how they shaped and formed me.

and of all the songs.....dreaming was never my favorite.....if im listening to hypnotize, ill listen to "She's Like Heroin" or "Vicinity of Obscenity"....

but very nice. i always love a good tribute

also, Shimmy has to be my all time favorite SOAD song

Have you ever gotten into an argument about someone whether the beginning of Chop Suey says Heroic Suicide or Rolling suicide?

GODDAMMIT how could you forget Chop Suey, Aerials, Toxicity, Shimmy, etc!?!?!

I used to listen to them. I don't understand it, but I used to love mesmerize and hypnotize. But that was back when things weren't going so great in my life and I can't listen to System of a Down anymore without having bad memories and feelings. They're old stuff is okay, but any of their new stuff puts me in a bad mood and I simply cannot listen to them

Lyrics are great, it's a shame they don't back it up with the music, because they've always sounded awful...

Okay I'll admit
This is my favourite band by far. Out of the 70 songs they have created I only dislike one or two. This band is me, I don't know what this makes me, but I accept it
Serj's solo stuff is also great. It shows how much of System is purely Serj. There is no way they can function without him
I f***ing love this band. I still have most of the songs lyrics memorized- heh damn
I am now happy

Chop Suey is possibly my favourite song of all time, even if everyone's heard it, any other reccommendations? I liked shimmy was in one of the tony hawks games.

But seriously coming from someone who spent most of his metal days listening to system
Schimmy is a lightweight song in the overall picture. But if you became attached to it then that is a normal thing to fall back to it

It's all about Chop Suey. And Aerials.

I tend to prefer their less.... flamboyant stuff. Never been a huge fan though, just a fan of some of their best songs.

Yea Serj solo was pretty good, Scars on Broadway was f***ing awful imo, and I've never bothered with Shavo's stuff.
