That is awesome and a ridiculous amount of equipment
So once everything is set up, do you watch the show then load it back into the trucks?

Roadie Styx loves his job

thus far this is the only gig i haven't seen. u2 management (or the guys themselves) doesn't want us there. but usually we stay if we have to or if we're interested. and as soon as the concert is over it's our time to hit the stage

well you're welcome in my crew any day. just don't forget there are a few things to remember - work comes first, only i take risks and may get hurt.
after a few gigs you'll see what ziggy told me before, and you'll know that this is true:
"you see the stage and everybody says 'whoa' while you're standing there with your arms crossed saying 'oh s***', you bleed but it doesn't bother you because it's always 'just a flesh wound', you're sweating and yet you don't mind the odor, you get hit but you don't feel a thing, you meet a steel construction and it starts to s*** nails and moves out of the way, you can barely stand yet you're running to the next point where you're needed, the forklift can't lift sth but you're throwing it around like a pillow, it's the middle of the night yet you're looking at that stage like a hungry predator on it's prey, you see the structure and you respect it but you don't fear it, there is danger around you yet you just go and get it done no matter the cost, your back is aching and you're hands have a mixture of blood, sweat and motor oil yet you won't stop until you get just one more sucker in... you're a roadie"

i seriously think you are way underpaid for such hard work. you should easily be making 15 bucks an hour. let me talk to your boss...

anyways, do you do set ups for just one particular venue?

You only make about $9.60 an hour? My friends are cash registers and they make more
That's sooo low!

thats funny, i thought it was a fair ammount.
im not saying you dont work for it. but roadies arent really in it for the good times and easy money. also, bands are greedy and dont want to pay the little guys. so whilst i think you SHOULD get paid more, im not surprised wit the amount you get.

true. well in the end it comes down to this - if you're good you'll get more money. not on this gig, but you'll get more and more gigs. sometimes i work for 2 or 3 hours and get almost 100 bucks, sometimes i work 9 hours for 40 bucks. really depends on a lot of things.

and i usually work for 2 companies. liteprom that has the equipment or lupa promotions that organizes the stuff. the actual work that i do on gigs is really odd to tell because i'm fairly good at everything. i worked with lights, sound, as a truck loader, backstage tech, on stage hands, steel crew... you name it and i probably worked with it
