PostSubject: Night List   Mon Aug 31, 2009 1:04 am

Okay this list has a little bit of a story behind it. It went from being a really big and radical idea to being on the verge of failure. I'm going to spare the details but basically the idea was originally to create a list of songs that I *would* want to listen to before suicide. I really like extremes that's all. Anyways I gave up all the crazy plans I had for it and just set out to make a sad and emotional list. It's not supposed to be amazingly full of metal and it's not supposed to be full of amazing underground bands and all of that. If it sounds too gushy and not metal enough that's because that's the way I intended to make it so yeah.

I played around with a lot of ideas for what order to put it in and almost gave up but then I noticed if I cut some songs out it would sound a lot better. I actually think it moves along quite nicely and changes also. The last song is one someone told me about and it is from an anime show (but only a snippet is played in the show) but I thought it was a good song so I added it.

Be sure to check out the Iron Maiden song, "The Duelists."

Here is the list:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6C3BDC5432145E35

Here is what I cut from the list:

Gorgoroth - Crushing the Scepter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3A4WSXDwAD0

Between the Buried and Me - The Endless Obsession
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19UZd_DKs2Q

Sadist - From Bellatrix to Betelgeuse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECp6kIXBjTk

Dark Tranquillity - Therein
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVk5OfJ_D_o

Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2za92DQOCw

Kalmah - Kill The Idealist
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DimI_kPjHh0

Iron Maiden - Dance of Death

To be honest it could be though of as a death bed list also, the only reason I made it a suicide list was for convenience with the timing. Actually that wasn't the only reason but it was one of them.

PostSubject: Re: Night List   Mon Aug 31, 2009 2:56 am

well, that enitre list is nothing of what i would have expected from you for a suicide list. i just pictured really underground black atmospheric black metal.

here is a very impromptu list for suicide for me

Scar Symmetry - Ghost Prototype I | Measurment of Thought
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y4WaL8rX9k#movie_player

the first couple times i heard this, i felt just so down. his voice seemed o consumed me and i welled up a bit inside. i dont know why, but it still happens
Dark Tranquility - Mind Matters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xU0SvN_0HY

a good one i played a long time ago was slipknot. io know they arnt too popular here, but this song is haunting
Slipknot - Danger: Keep Away
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2cDiC5Aiz8

a recent discovery would have to be off of Ghost revireies by opeth. it just makes me so....sad and teary eyed. his vocals are soo haunting
Opeth - Hours of Wealth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAUwCQdOurA

and lastly, disturbed. so earie. it makes me so lonely feeling
Disturbed - Darkness
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPFETr5ubN8

yeah, suicide is definitly not on my to-do list, nor has it ever been, and i consider myself a very lucky person, and i value life....im thankful for this

now this is th part where i go listen to folk metal, cuse its happy lol

I just have to tell the little story behind things. This list is just a list nothing more nothing less. It's actually pretty much what things I'm enjoying most at the moment.

Yeah I'm probably listening to Ensiferum's first album tonight. It's going to be good.

The Scar Symmetry song sounds good. The first couple times the chorus came around I didn't care much but it grew on me it's pretty great. Nice.

I only really like older Slipknot I don't know why. It seems like no one likes older Slipknot these days. Even mature metal heads seem to favor newer Slipknot material over older material. I thought Left Behind was a good song it was a favorite when I was in Elementary School.

im aware that you are probably a more healthy person today than you were 6 months or a year or even longer that, ago. im proud that you recognize that this is jsut a list, and for me, it is the same. nothing more thana collection of songs

yeah, i love older SS, i listened Holographic Universe jsut one too many times and put it down for like 4 months. i listened to it one day for school and feel in love with that track. i just, breathe different, when i hear these types of songs. idk what it is

yeah. i agree. older slipknot is the s***. psychosocial was a weak album. i still to this day dont remember if i have listened to the whole thing yet

and i have another confession. i have only listened to 2 songs off of the new ensiferum cd. axe is going to kill me,. maybe tomorrow after i finish the Opeth conquest

I don't know I might do better once I get into college. I don't talk about myself much so...

Yeah that song is great I'm listening to it for like the 7th time.

I heard a little bit of Psychosocial (like half a song). Everyone likes the song Psychosocial it seems I don't know why that song sounded really lame to me but maybe I'm just missing something lol. Someone else who likes older Slipknot... Brute you have taken refuge with a wanted criminal.

I haven't even listened to a single Ensiferum album so I have a lot to catch up on.

yeah, you are going to real college, if you live with people, its kinda hard not to at least talk to people and form relationships.

i thought psychosocial when i heard it on mtv (omg, i feel like a tard) had a rip roaring solo. so i dl the album, and play it through twice. i thought i missed it both times. wow was i wrong. such a bad album.

yeah, their other albums were way brutal. i it was one of my first experience to non-traditional vocals. i was truly scared. i a credit them to my love of death metal now.

and over the past couple days, i must have dl-ed 5 -7 albums and i have yet to get through them
Auspex - Resolutio
Be'Lakor
Blotted Science
Disarmonia mundi - i got the discography
Edge of sanity
opeth - watershed
Persefone - Core
Symbyosis - on the wings of pheonix (and) Crisis

omg, thats alot of music, for me i mean. i pale in comparison to you, kur, and dies when it comes to shear volume

Well I pale in comparison to Lord Kur and Dies Irae. I like how your taste in music is pretty unique on this forum. I have a ton of albums to make myself through. I have to listen to a good amount of the discographies of Blind Guardian, Falconer, Equilibrium, Eluveite, something else I forget at the moment, and Ensiferum. I need to cover the basics.

I first heard Slipknot in my mom's car back when I was still in Elementary school I believe. I liked it a lot but the song Left Behind was my favorite. I also heard Disturbed and liked Prayer and Down With The Sickness.

I thought they were called Slit Mark for the longest time though lol.

thanks for the compliment. id like to think im diverse, cuse the last thing i want is to be just "that guy" in music. im babbling.
yeah, byd got me to dl the entire Blind Guardian set, but i have only managed to make it through their last disc, a twist in the myth. so great
left behind is great. so br00tal

and sometimes (kur, i know you will read this) when kur talks about bands, i look them up, and the range that guy has is phenomenal. i mean, i cant see myself liking that much music. i need to eventually eat and sleep
or i could just think of it as having refined taste instead of eating whatever is in front of me. kur ,that was not a jab.....you must exercise like a crazy person to burn off all those extra music calories.

i think i have said too much

ooh look, a chicken

it helps when you have a job that you can listen to music all day. and it's funny because sometimes people say i am too critical about music now here people are saying i like too much. i seriously just can't win.

Well, my list is pretty much a compilation of all the quieter/emotional songs that I love so much. Here it goes

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F9C65BC79F562F14

Nightwish - Deep Silent Complete
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvVQmAZdSV0
This song is just beautiful to me. I could see myself listening to this while I die

Blue Oyster Cult - I love the Night
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izjl-FODymg
This song almost seems to symbolize suicide/death for me. If you listen to the lyrics it sounds like it could be a metaphor for that. I dunno, beautiful song though

The Doors - The End
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHFK1yKfiGo
What would be better than a song about death? This song really speaks to me, and I think it really shows what death is.

ColdWorld - Escape
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oIQQX9Dw3k
VR can help explain this one. This song just seems to represent death to me. As the song progresses I imagine a life that is slowly drifting away, until the escape

Ensiferum - Wanderer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKZd4U397M4
This song just fits any list I guess. I dunno, I just think this song is a good fit for this topic. "The wanderer's part is to ride alone..."

i need to work on that. i have no problem insulting the band, but i think other people (myself included) take it as a personal jab. keep doing what your doing

I live in a hell whole populated with kids who wear Trivium t-shirts and skate near the bus station.

Anyways, I was going to said bus station, wearing my Maiden shirt, and some 13/14 year old kid stops me and says cool shirt. I indulge him, and after expressing various insipid views relating to "metal", he eventually tells me Machine Head is his favourite band they're the heaviest band around, meaning he hasn't heard anything heavier. As always, I had my trusty iPod, I fired her up, gave him the head phones, and played him Towering Flesh by Pig Destroyer.

I kid you not, the kid looked ready to cry, took the earphones out and walked away without another word. I laughed myself stupid, you've never seen such a priceless look.

Hey, I was just providing an educational service: I just wanted to help the lad Very Happy

What?! Wow that story is something of legend.

Axe I'm going to listen to your list some time soon thanks for sharing.

My mind is still blown by the Pig Destroyer story. I think it's a story that gives hope to all serious metal heads. Dies Irae do you know what song it was?

Axe that's way cool I will listen. Right now I'm listening to the Falconer album you recommended. Some of these songs are really good but last night when I listened to it I was really tired. I have to give 3 listens to know where I stand.

You got Northwind right? That album is a masterpiece, if I do say so myself. Dammit did I remember to link the playlist?

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

I pictured the kid making one of those snotty mean faces and storming away, because he's a little punk b!tch.

Of course, I kinda like Trivium : ) But, they definitely don't even come close to the heaviest band

I am going to remember this story forever. That's all I have to say.

And yeah I got Northwind Axe. You posted the list but you didn't link to a playlist I don't believe.
