byd, get in here now.

This is the Black Metal band that I cannot stop listening to for some reason. They have slight folk elements, but mostly it's just Black Ambient I believe. Here are a few of my favorite tracks. Also, I will be posting their discography in the next little while

Tortured by Solitude - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b18PDU7okqM

Escape - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oIQQX9Dw3k

Hymn to Eternal Frost - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGlnhtH3ym0

Winterreise - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMKWrxErhDg

It calms me down so much. I don't understand why, but I absolutely love this band's music

I don't know why but I really like the first song as well

ColdWorld - A Dream Of A Dead Sun
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajct4wJVvz4

and this one from the EP...

ColdWorld - This Empty Life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vh9Q1Vjgpw

I actually downloaded their demo it's not even on the metal-archives. Haven't heard it yet but I don't think it has any new songs on it maybe 1 new one not sure.

Yes, those tracks are both superb. I think my least favorite track from them is Red Snow

I actually really like Red Snow it has a very church-like feel to it in a way I don't know it's very sad.

I'll check out that band Lord Kur.

I don't know, for some reason that track seems like filler to me, but it's by no means bad

Trauer sounds pretty good so far but it's repeating itself a lot so I'll have to continue listening to see what I think. Good so far.

well i call stuff ambient like brian eno and the new velvet cacoon. i call stuff like this DSBM.

people nowadays are just referring to everything that's mellow as ambient but real ambient is this:

Well, it's like Black Metal + ambient. Winterreise, Escape, and Stille are all three ambient tracks. The rest are slower and softer, and are similar the ambient tracks

brian eno? haha no

i don't call anything metal if it's not metal. black ambient works fine or dark ambient or darkwave. but it's not metal. like a lot of bands do have ambient tracks mixed in with metal songs so if that's the case i would call it black metal/ambient. so yeah if coldworls has non metal ambient tracks i would call them Depressive black metal/ambient

Yeah, a lot of power metal bands really do not seem metal either. Not that I don't like them, but it seems like a title given to them to avoid being called wimpy

i usually find most power metal actually metal. there's some borderline like new sonata arctica and nightwish. nightwish could be symphonic rock. not that that's bad. i haven't really heard them enough to judge

A few tracks are very very close to soft rock

This is true, although I think that just because it's branched off a ton from the traditional style of metal doesn't mean it isn't.

Take Nightwish. A lot of people (most of you) would say they aren't meta, but just because they happen to have liter songs and a classical singer doesn't mean they can't be. I'll agree that some of material isn't metal, but a lot of their stuff has the uptempo, melodic leads, and heavy rhythm of a metal song.
