yeah i bet you would like them. they are comparable to darkspace. i'm planning on posting Bunch of viking stuff, too.

My favorite is the more "ambient" styles (I use that term loosely, a lot of ambient black metal isn't ambient at all)

velvet cacoon is definitely something I need to get more of. Xasthur is a recent favorite, I'm also loving Vargnatt even though they only had 2 demos. And ColdWorld of course, although he is not very well liked anymore.

I'm also partial to the symphonic sounding stuff, like in the vein of Emperor. Do you have any recs based on that?

I love Darkwoods my Betrothed... byd, that was the band I told you to get and you told me to remind you after the library challenge.

Thanks man, you are definitely one of the best people to recommend black metal to me.

What I like is that it's fairly obscure stuff. I mean, it's good to have some of the undeniable classics, but there's no point in going through a blog full of common stuff, you know? I like to be able to discover some things that I haven't heard of.

aha! that's where the twist comes in! it's not all about obscure stuff, it's about good albums in cd quality rips. but of course i'm not gonna post anything on major labels because all hell breaks loose. there's obscure stuff blogs up the yingyang (like attila the hun's blog)

attila has a great blog but a lot of times there's gonna be some crappy low quality files. there's nothing wrong with that, but why copy another blog? 95% of the stuff i have is in 320kbps and i rip stuff from my personal collection instead of just leeching from the internet (although i do a combo).

I do need to replace some of my lower quality files, it is good to know that you do 320

Although the attraction is definitely the selection, the upload quality is just an added bonus. Although I'm sure a lot of people will like that as a main reason for choosing it. I just like using it as a way to learn about music and things I SHOULD know about, that I somehow missed over the years

Indeed. Usually a giveaway sign is if the cymbals sound distorted.

Axe get a hold of the new Sigh album "Scenes From Hell" and their last album "Hangman's Hymn", if you like your BM more melodic, a little bit Thrashy and uber symphonic / orchestral then I reccommend them.

Sigh

I like a lot of the stuff Atilla posts, but it's like Misantropic Path, there's so much stuff to wade through that sounds like a dude screaming into a 10 dollar cassette recorder with a vacuum cleaner stuck in his ear while a guitar plays in the background that sounds like the dude bought it and the amp for 20 dollars at a pawn shop and then backed over them with a 14 wheeler.

I mean, I'll listen to my share of that stuff (cough, OSN, cough) but it gets old pretty fucking quick.

To be honest, I haven't listened to anything by OSN for more than 2 minutes, other than Fixation on Plastics, which is uber cool.

See this I like, the noise in yours is good noise, not like background/poor recording noise. Also, if that's you doing all the vocals, especially towards the end, you don't sound anything like you look.

The new release is going to be miles better.

The vocals are yet to be recorded, but I'm doing a new style of Urfaust-styled vocals.

Most of the LLN stuff was really only worth 1 or 2 listens, at most. So it's amazing to me that people would actually copy them.

most people think the first two are the best but honestly i like "Black Millenium (Grimly Reborn) ", "Majestas Leprosus" and "Rattenkönig" a lot better produced and more enjoyable. then their latest "Sorrow Galaxies" is pretty much DSBM but it's definitely worth checking out. it's all good stuff
