Dude you have to watch all of this. It's excellent. There are gems throughout. This is the follow-up on my post about the 82 year old metal head. Thanks to blackstar for letting me know about this.

Yeah I saw this earlier in the year it's pretty cool but I enjoyed Sam's first film "Metal: A Headbangers Journey" more.

Better than the first IMO, but still sub-par. It should also have focused on Africa at least a little bit, and Egypt doesn't count.

I agree back and forth. It was good and worth a watch and I did enjoy Journey quite a bit but I don't feel like he put enough time into this one or should be doing a part two as well. Not quite complete but still interesting enough to call for a watch.

Probably I know the Headbangers Journey DVD had a bunch of outtake interviews with Lemmy and a mini documentary on black metal.

Metal: A Headbanger's Journey focused too heavily on the popular Norwegian black metal bands.

The guy didn't even include Doom Metal on his tree, let alone the movie.

Yeah that was a massive flaw the doom thing. Really though concentrating on the popular ones wasn't that big of a deal on the sheer fact that what he was trying to do with that one was just to introduce people to the history of heavy metal not really get into a ton of detail. I mean I would love to see a good bm documentary but I dont see it happening anytime soon.

All the strictly bm documentaries/books I've heard of suck. *shrugs* now if we could get some people with the devotion of the guys who did Get Thrashed it would be pretty badass. That being said though, does bm really need to be documented. *ponders*

I love both of Sam's documentaries. It shows that the metal community really is worldwide and we all have basically the same mentality.

Lords of Choas was a flawed read no doubt, but it was still pretty good.

True Norwegian Black Metal also has some amazing pictures...

i think for a documentary they are slightly weak. but as a demonstration about people and music it is tastefully done. i like hearing the differing sides in his films

yeah.
i think if he really wanted to go for shock factor, he should have interviewd (or tried) the major government types and the people against all the metal, rather than just discussing it at times

Hahaha I think the intent was more to show how the community was tied together rather than how people hate metal. We all know that for the most part.
