PostSubject: Crappy bandmates   Sat Nov 07, 2009 11:46 pm

Well, I've got a band going with a bassist and rhythm guitarist. We found a drummer. Now the bassist is fine, but the other guitarist is a tad lazy (I have to nag him to practice). Drummer is ridiculous; I wrote down a list of 4-5 songs for him to practice that we knew like two weeks before, and on arriving to my place, he said he didn't know any, which pissed me off a little, but I said it was alright and for him to get down our main song (For Whom the bell tolls).

So when I put the song on and helped him get the beats down the other bandmates wouldn't shut the f*** up with their instruments. I'd tell them, then they'd be quiet for a few mins then start up. When he finally got the beats down we played it, and he ****ed up, which was fine, and we went through again and again and he just couldn't get it down. Not to mention the other bandmates wouldn't STFU with their instruments.

The same thing happened with our other two songs. Then, the drummer traded instrumments with the guitarist and just obnoxiously f***ing slammed the drums when I said I wanted to create a drum track for the song we wrote. Not to mention some bandmate is always playing when i'm trying to f***ing speak. Then when I got the guitarist playing drums under control, the drummer playing guitar started up. He didn't even give a f*** about our (and I mean our, I only wrote 1 riff from it) song. I gave up which just resulted in each bandmate playing whatever they want as loud as they want making a big blurb of noise in my garage.

It pisses me off; the guitarist is incapable of learning anything on his own (I have to learn it, and TEACH it to him, which when combined with the f***ing drummer bashing his set as hard as he can and the bassist making noise, is long and tedious). The drummer left his drumms at my house, so he can't practice by himself which means I have to listen to the f***ing song and f***ing TELL him which cymbols or tom-toms to hit and show him the rhythm, all when the other bandmates won't STFU. Not to mention myself, I have to play all the HARD leads AND SING; any easy tapping solo will be covered by the other guitarist "Because he doesn't want to be left out" but I HAVE TO LEARN IT FIRST AND TEACH IT TO HIM. He can't even play them cleanly, he just slop-asses his way through it.

I already had a meltdown and told everyone to get the f*** out of my house, but I apologized. I can't do this anymore. I am going to have a band meet and explain the situation. If they shape up and take some initiative OR AT LEAST SHUT THE f*** UP WHEN I'M TRYING TO TEACH ANOTHER BANDMATE SOMETHING they can stay. Otherwise I'm going to kick their asses out, or I might even leave the band all together. I am not being unreasonable in the least; I told them I'm open to new ideas and riffs and any kind of experimenting.

Your input whether it may be negative or positive is appreciated

Break it up. Ain't f***ing worth it. I tell you this from experience sir. And the instrument thing? That is normal, don't get pissed at that. What do you play/do? If your a vocalist, you have no room to speak *no offense* because you are your own seperate entity to a band.

well
never having been in a band i dont know, but i can guess:

most band practices might go that way
i dont know how they are supposed to go, but maybe you are too controlling?
do you have a deadline to practice the songs by? or are you just dicking around and having fun?
maybe thats what the other members think, maybe they are in it to have a little fun, nothing serious.

like i said, i know nothing about this, but im just bringing some points to light

Benton is hilarious. I love his phone conversation with Bob Larson.

And yeah he's a bit of a douche at the same time, but a funny one at that.

Well, Glen and Steve are going around saying that they "fired" us, and then Glen says that we're (my brother and I) his most hated people (fuckin' hypocrite).

Apparently he thought that Steve and him wrote all the songs, and we did absolutely nothing.

What did he do? Write his shitty lyrics that ruined our perfectly good songs?

f*** it, when people listen to the new "Deicide" and think to themselves, "what happened to the two guitarists that were really good?" then we'll know Glen is a hypocritical idiot.

Don't they teach Deicide in school? How is it possible not to have heard of them? Legion and Once Upon the Cross are classics...

nope, they dont teach anything about anything in school. Its pretty lame, cause they have the marching band play crazy train, which is the most metal any of them have ever heard. Then they think they are cool cause they kno who Ozzy is.
