The new Immortal album. I finally downloaded it, despite everything bad I'd heard about it, and now I have a headache that I want to cure with a bullet.

The more I think about it, the angrier I get. I'm not even a big fan of Immortal, even their good stuff failed to really impress me.

At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Pestilence - Spheres

I love both of those albums. I actually consider them to be the master work of their respective bands. Weird how opinions can differ so much

Anyway

Metallica - St. Anger
Nightwish - Century Child
Falconer - Sceptre of Deception
Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?
Iron Maiden - Virtual XI
Megadeth - Risk

probably more

I just noticed Slaughter of the Soul on there... I can't say I agree with that at all.

Yeah, Slaughter of the Soul is an all time classic album. The best of it's kind if you ask me and afterall it did give birth to melodic death metal which isn't necessarily a good thing but there ya go, many a band has At The Gates and Slaughter of the Soul to thank for their career.

sense of purpose is fail

Scar Symmetry - Dark Matter Dimensions. but it wasnt a surprise cuse there was no Christian
Miseration - The Mirroring Shadow
Ensiferum - From Afar (fight me people, i dare you)
Five Finger Death Punch - War is the Answer (lets not argue if they ever were good, it is personal taste)

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

See, the thing is with SotS is the people who called it a masterpiece. To me, it did not even approach to live up to the hype. All I saw was some fairly boring Melodeath album with a coupe standout songs here and there.

Spheres was another story. I tried to like the album, but I felt that's not genuine. Pestilence tried to hard, and even though it had some cool ideas, it was executed pretty badly.
