1st Metal album I ever heard was Ashes of the Wake by Lamb of God and it fucking blew me away it was just such an intense experience far beyond anything I had heard up to that point.

The first metal album I purchased for myself was actually a compilation called Metal for the Masses that hottopic put out which lead me to buy Dimmu Borgir's Stormblast which was massively influential in my interest in darker metals.

Though the album that honestly sold me as a metalhead (actually may have been bought on the same trip) was a Judas Priest greatest hits album.

Sorry i forgot my own post
my first own rec of hard sounds was AC/DC ´s Highway to Hell,it opens my ear for distorted git sounds and aggression in music, and lead me into PÜNK Music.

Most influenced rec to me was Metallica´s Kill em All,who opens a complete new door to me (i bought it in same week as it realesed in ger)This rec Blow me absolutley away and run the whole day over a year on my turntable,i don´t listen another rec in this time, only kill em all......

Topics like this are without a doubt one of my favorite to discuss with other metalheads.

The first album I got into was Creatures of the Night by Kiss. When my dad discovered I enjoyed this at the tender age of 7, he began my rock education.

First album I bought for myself I believe was Hysteria by Def Leppard.

My dad gave me Judas Priest: Unleased in the East when I was little.

My first actual purchase that I bought for myself was Aborted's The Archaic Abattoir when it first came out. What a mistake that was. But, it came with a metal sampler CD, which I then heard Swallow the Sun's song "Deadly Nightshade", which completely blew me away. I also liked the Bloodbath song "Eaten" from the compilation and a couple of others I liked as well (Napalm Death, etc).

Thus began my path into metal past Metallica.

Iowa from Slipknot put me into metal. I couldn't wrap m head around what he was doing with his voice. I thought it was some kind of filter or something. They still stand as my favorite band in the world. I catch a lot of shit for it, but they are.

like blackstar, i was amazed, totally new experience, as i hadn't been into music much at all before then. after that i got a box set of nirvana, and In flames - Come Clarity, which really opened me up to melodic death metal.. which i liked Smile

No, it's not that I can't stand it, though. I just know that they have done way better material.

I got to see them live with 3 Inches of Blood, The Faceless, and Between the Buried and Me. It was a killer show.

Come Clarity. I like it because it was the first In Flames album I bought, on a whim. I have a feeling if I listened to their albums chronologically it would be different

I don't think their old stuff was necessarily better, I really liked Soundtrack to Your Escape. Come Clarity just seemed thrown together for some reason.

The first record I ever owned (as in had but not bought) was my dad's copy of Deep Purple -Machine Head. Pretty sure that's the album ha got me into music.

First actual album that I ever bought was Morbid Angel - Covenant. Was blind buy too because I had never heard of Morbid ANgel up until that point. Shit was amazing.

I don't dislike Morbid Angel as much as I used to, I actually like a few of their songs. I still don't see what all the fuss is about though.

Covenant is their only good album. The rest is pretty boring IMO.

They sound like a run-of-the-mill Thrash band playing Death Metal.

The riffs dude. You guys need to listen to A, B C, and F more. Not sure how you can find Morbid Angel boring.

The very first album I bought is very fucking embarrasing but I'm not a liar so I'll come out and say it. I got "Silver Side Up" by Nickelback. This was when I was like 9 or 10, I remember I was in the fourth grade. The first album that I bought when I actually started getting into music, not just listening to music, was CKY's "Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild". I hardly ever bought my own albums however, the first album I actually recieved that got me into music was a two disc The Doors compilation album. I got that when I was 13 I think, I was in the 8th grade as a Christmas gift. I can remember asking for it because I heard a few songs by them that completely blew me away.

The most influential album in my life is probably The Doors' self titled debut. I love that album
