PostSubject: Guitar/Bass related questions   Mon Dec 28, 2009 2:44 am

Ok guys got 2 questions.

1) I'm interested in getting an electric guitar to just kinda fuck around with. Don't want to spend much but I want a pretty nice more punk/metal vibe. Suggestions.

2) I'm also very interested in getting an acoustic bass. Any suggestions on that field?

I say you can never go wrong with a Epiphone Les Paul or SG to start out with.

I'm actually quite the Ibanez fan but honestly I'm not that picky.

Well you can get a Ibanez SA series for under 200 new , Its a starter , But if i was you i would get a good used one from ebay for about the same price but a far better guitar ..

Now the bass , Dean makes one that cheap as hell and it sounds good also , Action is ok could be better but for what it is its great .. Also go to musicans friend and look under the Scratch 'n' Dent .. Now you can also look under the Factory B-Stock if you dont mind runs in the paint or the brand name on backwards ..

Hmm ok thanks guys. It will probably be much later before I invest in one of these so I'm in the stage of just looking around right now lol. And I honestly don't know shit about the technical differences or whats good and whats not lol.

You can get a Ibanez Destroyer really cheap, and they have a great sound and action.

I also have a AXL Jackknife, which looks good, plays good and comes with some sexy EMG pickups... a decent guitar, though not something I use really.

I'd save and invest in something better. I spent a fortune on my MBM1, but I fucking love it more than my own mother. A decent guitar is never a bad investment.

The best way to buy a guitar on a budget is to go second hand. Pawn Shops are goldmines, but any second hand music shop will do. I scored a Gibson Explorer once that would run 3k+ new for 400 bucks because the paint job on the back was scratched up pretty bad. Who the fuck's gonna see it anyway right?

Well, if you want a cheap guitar with a good tone and good playability I would recommend the Dean Vendetta that I got. I am thoroughtly pleased so far. It has a three octave 24 fret neck that is eaaaaaasy to play on. The tone is very good, and has two decent humbuckers. It also has a string-through-body design which gives it excellent sustain and tone. I have only had it for a week and I am liking it alot, and you can get one for right around a hundred bucks. It's not an off brand either, it's a legitimate Dean. Just a cheaper model.
