PostSubject: Emotional Songs   Sat Jan 16, 2010 11:45 pm

There have been a few threads like this, but I thought I would make another for just emotional songs that you can't help but think about a particular event or thing while listening. Also for songs that instantly bring out emotions in you.

The Offspring - Gone Away - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d3AqlKfXbE
I was a huge fan of this band when I started dating my first girlfriend, I got one of their albums that had this on it and listened to it a lot. Now when I listen to it, it reminds me of some great memories. I was in the school orchestra and we went on trips yearly, and it seventh grade at the end of the year we went to Six Flags (sweet amusement park) to perform in a competition and have fun at the park. It was a four hour bus ride from our school and I can remember hanging out with her and listening to music, and on the way home her falling asleep on my shoulder.

Panic at the Disco - Build God, Then We'll Talk - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFSIm3Zeecg
The year after the previous entry, our orchestra went to Cedar Point (another amusement park), but this year my girlfriend was a freshman and I was in eight grade. Me and my best friend had a very memorable experience and it's one of my best memories from middle school. I had just got this album, so we listened to it non-stop.

Death Cab For Cutie - Summer Skin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOIJqq70CMM
When I was a freshman, I started dating a girl that was a junior. This wasn't a very good experience, because it only lasted for one date. But I fell in love with this girl, and I was pretty depressed for the rest of the year. I was really into this band during that time, so whenever I listen to this album it reminds me.

Boston - More Than a Feeling - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm_-sW4Vktw
This song reminds me of when me and my best friend first started hanging out. I'm not gonna lie, I had a tough time with friends and when I met Chris, my life got a lot better. We both understood each other, because we had a lot of the same problems. Anyway, we would always play runescape together, hang out and watch youtube videos, and play morrowind together (two TVs, two xbox consoles). We hung out a shit ton, and this was about the time we both got into music (classic rock).

Steve Vai - For the Love of God - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IrWyZ0KZuk
This song brings me back to about this time last year. For some reason, I remember that time whenever I hear it. It was just a good time, a time when I didn't worry about things as much as now. It was just a better time in my life I think. Plus, this was one of the songs that almost brought me to tears the first time I heard it. I love this song.

There's a few others, I might add to this list later

"Fuck I made bad choices and its too late to change them"

Doesn't matter if you don't like Metallica, or even metal, for that matter, this song is amazing.

They fucked that song up: they should have stuck with the original arrangement Kamen came up with full in the mix. The S&M version if 50 times better than the album version.

Though the S&M version is also helped by the fact that James has never sounded better in his entire life than he did for that show.

i was just defending the fact that I used to listen to crap when I was younger. I mean, I still like some of it because of the memories, but I acknowledge that it's mostly crap.

Remember, I grew up on classic rock and horrendous mainstream music. Mostly the former. I liked a few select mainstream bands.

I half agree with you. The S&M version is fantastic and James does sound brilliant in it. But I still love the original. In fact, in my opinion, it's the best ballad I've heard by any metal band.

And RNRC, I have to respectfully disagree with you, man. I'm quite familiar with some people hostility towards the band, but I still love them even after they stepped away from the thrash sound (well, apart from one album that we shall not speak of...), and this song's just bloody brilliant.
