PostSubject: I think my videogaming days are on life support   Mon Jan 18, 2010 12:55 am

I almost never play video games anymore. I was one of those guys who had two level 40 Oblivion characters too and countless amounts of time spent of xbox live. Nowadays I never play on my free time. Its only when people enter my room and want to play my games themselves, or want to play with me. I just get frustrated too easily now. I dunno maybe during the summer when I'm not living in residence I will like them again. Maybe its just university life that clashes with my gaming style. Either way, perhaps I shall recover and game in the summer. If not, I had an excellent run. I just don't want to buy games more than $10 anymore lol. I prefer movies

I've been the same lately, but I will never grow out of video games. My xbox is being kinda gay right now, it overheats really easily and doesn't like to read discs. But you can bet your ass when Mass Effect 2 comes out and when Elder Scrolls V comes out, I will be playing.

I think I might just play RPG's from now on. There challenging and progressive. Shooting games just get really hard but you don't really improve other then getting better guns. There is one way to win, shoot things

RPGs are basically the only games I play. I mean, I play Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto - the staples of gaming, but RPGs are my primary gaming focus. That, and pseudo-RPGs. Bioshock held my attention until the end.

Shooters require skill
RPG's requires just loving your character

Most games today are so bland and uninspired, and they're all clones of one another, it gives me a headache. When I do find the rare original game these days I can play it no problem.

Exactly. They can change the themes, graphics, and story all day, but the whole "point and shoot" thing is really boring and, as you said, bland.

Make something different, dammit!

I dunno guys, R6V2 will never get old. The hard challenge will always make a game better, the harder the better. Pop on some terrorist hunt, put it on realistic, enemy density on high, and have a buddy over to play split screen, = one of the best games on the planet. Dont get me wrong RPG's are by far the most expansive, most story line, and funnest out there, but dont down the shooters man, R6V2 owns all shooters Wink.

not that collecting. like culdcept collectiong. pokemon. all the gear in bayonetta. masks in majora's mask. etc. Collecting that actually matters.

i used to be a hardcore gamer, but nowadays hardcore gamers are just getting shit on my big companies.. i dont want to pay 50 bucks ever year for a new game in a series (fifa 08, 09 10, etc) and hardly any games that come out now a days are able to satisfy the level of gaming i expect.. so its usually dissapointment and i stick to the old stuff.

I wouldn't say i'm on life support, but ever since my 360 crapped out i've resorted to my friend's original xbox and my ds. playing through every single classic i own to keep me sane till i earn up enough to replace my 360. But I'd have to say i don't play NEARLY as much as i used to.

ZACH SOLD IT!?!? I thought he was letting you buy it!? dude that SUCKS.
But one thing I've been contemplating lately... Aside from achievements and a small feeling of self worth, what purpose is there to sinking 40 or more hours into a game? I mean achievements at least show that you did something but nobody gives two shits if you just beat KOTOR with every side quest in 15 hours. I mean, why do we do it? It means absolutely nothing in the long run. and after the game's over, and enjoyment is gone, and you just realize you blew off your girlfriend, homework, and job, you get to thinking... God that was a waste.

Well because life is annoying a lot of the time, and videogames take away the suck for awhile. Plus getting two families to gun each other down or blowing up a mandalorian is fun. And saving Tamriel from the likes of Dagoth-Ur and Mehrunes Dagon. Duh!

ME! lol so fun story:
took my shitbox to the gamestop that just recently opened up to trade it in and the stupid pricks wouldn't give me money for it since it had an E74 and i argued with this fool for about 5 minutes then gave up and went to the older one in the mall. This fool decided to look at the sheet of paper listing acceptable trade ins, and decided i was going to get my money after all. so, triumphant and full of myself, i proceeded to blow the rest of my paycheck on a brand new (used) xbox 360 and FF XIII. Which is where i have spent every single hour of my free time since. overall: good decision, but i'm going to be running on empty for the next two weeks.

FFXIII is fail, and I'm the biggest Final Fantasy fan around.

Its not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, but it could have been so much more. I've been playing Soul Silver. Cyndaquil for the win, even though the little rodent bastard was useful to the amount of zero much against the first gym.

Welcome back DI. Glad to see you around again.

I would probably get FXIII but I don't think I'll have time to really play it much. Maybe next year if I have TV/console in the room at school. Still I have my eye on other things...Gran Turismo 5 for one. Armored Core 5 for another. Yeah I have odd tastes in games.

I have the original Gold and Silver, so Imma just play those. Those were epically fun, though were the trailer trash of pokemon games. I want my Red Version back QQ

Its not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, but it could have been so much more.

agreed! that game could have been so much better! i mean the battle system is almost too easy all u pretty much have to do is hit X. That and the game is so controlled for most of it. i mean u have a straight path to walk, until the later chapters when the map finally opens up.

Got no problems with the straight paths and linearity. The battle system and shoddy story are my complaints. Also the elbows: how can a game so pretty have square elbows? And why is Lightning cross-eyed in the menu pictures? Fang and Vanielle should have had dirty monkey sex too, its obvious they wanted too.

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

Me neither. Don't plan on doing so. I hate JRPGs.

I agree with you but i have severe problems with linearity. i was just talking about that the other day. i hate how there's jack shit you can do right now and i agree on the fang and vanielle bit Very Happy but this has been a massive disappointment as to what i've come to expect. but then again, Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery were also shitbombs. ( Last Remnant wasn't TOO bad with all the sidequests.) when i play a game i want to do whatever i damn want, wherever i damn want, with WHOever i damn want! so forcing me to follow a tiny little path for 14 hours of gameplay makes me want to scream. And most JRPGs suck, but i've got strong brand loyalty to both FF and the Tales' series.
