Man Must Die
No Tolerance for Imperfection

Track Listing
1. No Tolerance For Imperfection
2. Gainsayer
3. Kill It Skin It Wear It
4. It Comes in Threes
5. This Day is Black
6. Hide the Knives
7. Dead In the Water
8. What I Can't Take Back
9. Reflections From Within
10. How The Mighty Have Fallen
11. Survival of the Sickest

I really love this band. I listened to them way back when The Human Condition came out. I thought that these guys were awesome. This album is just a reassurance that they can kick total ass. When I listed to them years ago, at first I thought that they were kind of okay, but the more and more I listened, the more and more I became enthralled in their sound.

This album is solid all the way through. Never once does it drag or let up. It's sick and brutal as hell. His voice is nasty and badass with a range that's nothing to scoff at.

One of my favorite things about this album is how dramatic it sounds. It feels like you need to listen, like there is something bigger out there that he's trying to tell you all about. The tune to everything is so captivating. A lot of the time in core music, you find that the tune has been muddled down to nothing but distorted garbage, but that isn't the case here. I find myself humming the guitar parts later, throughout the day.

I suggest that all of you look more into them.

Not their biggest fan. Already knew them, being a big tech death fan, and they leave me cold. Blackstar will tell you I'm very picky about this particular sub-genre (well, in general really).

I think its that they have that core-ish sort of edge to them...

Its odd too, becuase I pretty much worship at the altar of Relapse.

Downloading. I'm not optimistic because I normally can't stand tech death. But I'll give it a fair chance.

Giving a half ass listen atm as I usually do on first go. So far it's not bad. I don't really mind the slight core edge. I'll give it more listens over the week and a few more "serious" listens so we shall see.

Nay, although the guitars are pretty strong I find. Although overall I am not a fan on the overall composition. But for the genre itself, I would pick this band before others

I'm gonna say yah. Though it's like a 3/5. It's not amazing only a few sections really caught my attention but overall it wasn't a pain to listen to. So it's positive but not just high up there.

If I do get dragged into this, I think I'll skip on the tech death. I have a few recs for some good albums, but no one seems to be that into it.

Maybe some tech thrash a la Coroner? I'll think of something. Then I'll think fuck it, I'll save it for Looksee.

I usually try to post stuff specific to what I know of peoples tastes: thinking of something that will go down well with the majority is harder than I thought. I want to do something obscure that I know none of you have heard, which isn't the challenege, its what sub-genre to fucking pick.

Downloading and listening

i plan on giving this "metal school" thing a real fighting chance. so i will review the hell out of this and really do my homework

i know we have some apathetic minds here, but i seriously think this is one of the best ideas we have had in a long time
i dont plan on walking away liking everything, but dammit, im going to give it my all.

let you know in about a days time what i think

and techdeath pleases me, but like dies, im picky about this genre

i also thought, and i forgot to bring this up
that maybe we could have 1-3 choices. sort of like a choose-your-own-adventure, but with music. so the black fans can have what they want, and the oldschool can have what they want
i guess this would make things harder, and then if you wanted to listen to both or all three, that would take up more time.

nevermind then, just saying dies, if you want to post 2 bands, i guess that would be groovy

After listening to it a couple times, it's not a bad album. I'll probably end up listening to it again, it's just not my cup of tea, and it didn't "wow" me or anything like that.

Yeah that was my general thoughts. Something that will get jammed on occasion like "Hey I remember that" *listens*. But nothing just like OMG MUST GO BUY!!!!! For some reason nothing in it just really really stuck out to me in particular. Like none of it was bad just nothing catching.

for my thoughts as of almost one listen, i will say it is repetitive.

I'm on the first song and in my mind are two words:
"Solid, repetitive."
We'll see.

Okay I listened to over half of it but couldn't finish the rest of it. 50 Minutes is just too much tech death for me.

I can definitely see the appeal if you just want some nonstop onslaught of death metal. I found the album as a whole to be quite repetitive, and the actual music to be decent enough. I felt like the album used vocals too much. The instruments rarely bled through and stuff.

Thanks for sharing WookieBackstage.

dl'd, listening now..

initial opinion : i cant find the flow very well.. its kinda choppy in some bits and the drumming seems a bit off, and that they are relying only on the dbl bass..
vocals arent helping me much either.
more thoughts to come though Very Happy good post of course + rep

juding from the people and the likes we have here, a universal "meh" should be considered a huge victory.

im still looking for mine...but i would be willing to be one or two people really like it and the rest despise it. so haveing a blase album isnt bad at all.

and im listening to it for the second time...ill let you know later....perhaps after work tonight

After listening to the album, I have mixed feelings about it. Some parts are incredibly good, fast, thrashing, melodic, very well written. Other parts are completely "meh" and would only be good for live moshing. That being said, I enjoyed listening to the album, but i couldn't see myself listening to it very often at all. It blends the boundary between tech death and deathcore, so that is a good point. But there are many elements which are just boring. I am slightly biased because I prefer melodic music, and this album has ALOT of chugging sections that really start to get boring. But I give it a "yea", because it's definitely not bad.

I thought the format was fantastic, actually. Only thing, you should have a "meh" in between category on the poll.

Ok, the Brute's Opinion

The general feel i got was just angry tech death. The instrumentation wasnt nearly pointless enough for the general tech death vibe. The vocals were fine. usually, tech death bands make me crazy with bad vocals. these were fairly common and tolerable. i always like a deep voice

Biggest complaint: Very repetitive. i mean, i put in 2 listens in the album and i found it hard to know when the tracks were switching. no tracks seem to stand out except for possibly the middle two, called It Comes in Threes and The Day is Black.

Biggest Admiration: Good vocals. im super pickey. to say the vocals didnt annoy me should be considered a win in your book.

Final verdict: not a new favorite, but they may get a couple of listens whilst im doing pull-ups at the gym.

Thanks for sharing!

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

Where Bathory was an iron broadsword, this band is a big plastic one with "viking!" written on it in sparkly purple magic marker.
