PostSubject: Man wakes up at his funeral   Tue Feb 23, 2010 6:04 pm

A beekeeper passed out after being stung...and woke up in a pitch-black closed coffin.

The doctor who found Jozef Guzy collapsed by his hives thought he had suffered a heart attack and declared him dead.

Wife Ludmila said: “I could not believe it when they said he was dead. The doctor pulled a sheet over him and three hours later the funeral directors pulled up and put him in a coffin and closed the lid.”

The coffin was taken to the undertakers’ store while mourners gathered. And it was there that Jozef woke up... Undertaker Darius Charon said: “He was shouting and banging on the lid and made enough noise to raise the dead. I touched his neck and felt a pulse".

“It’s a true miracle. Thank God I hadn’t nailed the coffin shut.”

The 76-year-old was taken to hospital in Katowice, Poland, and released after checks. Now the doctor who certified him dead has apologised.

An ambulance spokesman said: “When we got there he wasn’t breath-ing, there was no heartbeat and the body had cooled.” Jozef said: “That undertaker saved my life. The first thing I did when I got out of hospital was take him round a nice jar of honey.”

He was screaming and yelling, but its a good thing they still checked his pulse to be sure

This happened ALOT before the turn of modern medicine.

Not necessarily with bees (BEES ARHH BEES!) but there are alot of conditions where the body appears to be dead or they take some sort of wack drug, commonly associated with vodoo. I've read thats how many vampire and zombie legends came into effect. Someone would seem dead, they would get buried and they would wake up, try to claw themselves out of the coffin then die...they get dug up and omg, they were scratching at the lid, OFF with his head! Same kinda deal for zombies.

Don't...don't happen. Calm down. Don't get angry.

...we'll see if it happens or not.

Mythbusters said if you were in a coffin alive you'd die in under half an hour

Haha thanks for the visual reference Taxer. That clip seriously never becomes unfunny.

Yeah I saw that Mythbusters, and it's true, there is not much air to stay alive, the nail scratching would be panicked and brief. The main physical "vampire" signs were looking nice and plump, nails/teeth/hair longer, blood on mouth, etc. Too bad those are signs of a decomposing body!

I'll shut it about vamps...

Haha yes...I think back when they were burying people a live they probably didn't have all the specifications we do now. So maybe if you're in a cheap coffin only 3 feet under you could get out well enough to be killed as a vampire/zombie hahaha.

And yes, zombies originated from voodoo if I recall correctly.

Up until now all I've heard were bad things about Poland. This gives me hope. At least they have people aware of impending threat of zombiepocalypse if nothing else. Razz
