A little two piece project (so far), with me on guitar. We're looking for someone to play bass, but we are having trouble deciding what our musical direction will be. We have one demo up (recorded with Audacity and a headset microphone) and it's a groovy cover of Foreign Objects' "Disengage the Simulator". Check it out, there was a few fuckups but you can get the general idea of what it will sound like.

Anyway, what we are debating is what we want to play. Right now we are just jamming and having fun, we will have a cover demo of Boston's "Peace of Mind" up soon. But what we'd kinda like to play is a funky alternative style, but we want to find someone who can play really good slap bass. The debate is whether or not we want to make it a metal project, because I can growl/scream fairly decently. Anyway, here's a link to our newly made myspace page, feedback on the song would be fantastic. But it is a live demo, so there will be some fuck ups.

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

Hahaha well actually, I agree with all of them for the most part. I am a HUGE alternative fan, I just don't talk about it here because my thread attempts have failed so far lol. Basically the three genres I listen to are metal, classic rock, and alternative.

What did you think of the song? As soon as we get a few more members we'll improve, but that was just a guitar and a bass

We both have a mutual love for them. New album soon!

I like all of the bands on that list, but the ones that I wouldn't say were influences to me personally would be Julian Casablancas, Van Halen, Nickle Eye, and Albert Hammond Jr.

All of the others I love and have been influenced by greatly. The big reason me and him started playing music together is our tastes overlap. He doesn't like a lot of metal, but he loves classic rock and alternative.

It's so melancholic and chill. And the guitar work is very cool, it's very complex actually. They're almost like a progressive alternative band, if there was such a thing

We and Nolan hang out pretty much every day, he lives really close to me. And our set up is in his garage, so it's super convenient.

We have a few more songs ready to be recorded but technical difficulties are a bitch

For anyone who's interested, there are three versions of this song (by the original band)

One is by the first incarnation of CKY, Foreign Objects, which I credit the song too because we take most of the elements from this incarnation. This is a death metal/tech death version. I utilize the chops and the key signature from this version. The tempo is also quite fast in this song, except for the very end where it slows down slightly.

The second version is a demo by CKY, which is the same as the Foreign Objects version only in a slightly different key and without vocals.

The third version is the Volume 1 album versions, which utilizes a much slower tempo, a different key, and clean vocals. Our tempo is somewhat in between this version and the other two. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SOKmLDD5Iw

So I made an arrangement that mixes qualities of each version, although it doesn't show that well due to the poor sound quality.

As soon as I get a job man, I want to invest in some good equipment. And that would be badass if you lived near me, you could not only help mix the stuff but play bass
