Metallica were in their prime when Jason was in the band (and very late stages of Burton's life) and that's not a coincidence, he brought alot of extra energy to the band, great backing vocals and his leaving was extremely detrimental to Metallica.

Cliff
# Kill 'Em All (1983)
# Ride the Lightning (1984)
# Master of Puppets (1986)

jason
# ...And Justice for All (1988)
# Metallica (1991)
# Load (1996)
# ReLoad (1997)

AJFA was really good, but i think it is soiled by load and reload

and metallica (album) was great, first album i bought, but it was made far more commercial than the rest (not saying that is good or bad, it was just more accessible)
cliff is way overrated, but i dont think jason brought anything.

also, i heard an interview. james backed the riff on enter sandman like 3 times over himself. jason complained that there wasnt enough bass. im glad james didnt give him any room, metallica was great without having jason there and his whiny voice

When I said in their prime I didn't mean in the studio I mean't live, that's where Jason gave them so much energy, anyway, I don't want to debate this, clearly neither of us will have our view changed by t'other lol

it was garbage. i mean, i got halfway through the song, past the opening cliff riff, and it was bad. just way too much reverb and distortion. ill try it again.
