PostSubject: Review of Kalmah's 12 Gauge   Fri Mar 19, 2010 3:13 am

At first, i was skeptical of where this album would go. I love almost all of Kalmah's material, I started to lose faith in them when their other album, For The Revolution, came out. I was really wondering where it would take them, and this is where, this FANTASTIC album. Kalmah returned to their roots in this one, and it shows obviously from the solos of One of Fail, which really inspires you to do SOMETHING, such as try to learn it by ear, tough shit, to the soothing acoustics of Rust Never Sleeps. Kalmah always has had that specific sound per album, and the scales and such in this album are truly godlike. You can tell there was almost struggle with the subjects of the songs, and the emotional content runs thick through this. My final score is a 9.0/10.0. What brought this only sort of down is preference on my part.

One of my favorite melodic metal bands, and my two favorite albums are #1 and #2 by them...so I'm glad to hear they are returning to earlier roots. This sounds like a damn fine album...I'll have to get it.

Their drummer recorded the album in a cast on one of his legs.

I honestly think this album is tied with The Black Waltz for the best Kalmah has ever put out.

Kalmah is a strange band. They were good right from the start, and ever since they have been more or less just consistently good and solid. It's been 6 albums now...

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".
