Viewpoints?

I love this band alot, my friend got me into them a few years ago and I just started had time to pull out Dirt and Facelift. I wanna get their new album so badly, it's rediculous. List your favorite songs.

Their new one is great. I'm a long time AIC diehard, they're one of the reasons I got into doom metal and sludge etc, that plodding, depressed, drug steeped sound is just awesome. Favorite song? I dunno, maybe Rain When I Die.

Lol yea, and best line from a song, like, ever:

"What's my drug of choice? Well, what have you got?"

I love almost everything they do, so I don't have a particular favorite. I also love that DEEP drug sound is probably the best sound.

Yea... If Glam is the cocaine soundtrack, Dirt is the official soundtrack to heroin...

Wow, seriously? Don't let Who? read that post... LOL

Sludge is like Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity etc. It's that really think southern doom, with a ton of hardcore influence. If you like AiC, you should get into Sludge rather easily:

Well, what turned me off Sludge is it sounded like some dumb black metal knock off, but now I realize it's amazing.

Sludge is awesomeness. Then there's atmospheric sludge like Isis and Neurosis who are on a whole other level of win.

I'd call Isis more post-metal, and some of Neurosis' stuff as well, but yea.

Also in that category, Pelican.

Jesu is pretty damn post-metal if you ask me, and I wouldn't call them sludgy at all.

Well, I find Jesu to be like a mix of atmosludge and post-rock. Skimmed through Silver and Conqueror and the riffs are totally sludgy bro.

I wouldn't call it sludgy, it's definitely pretty doom, but not sludge.

Sounds sludgy to me but ok, at least we can agree on it being doomy (which sludge tends to be).

Anyway, back on topic. I think the thing I like the most about the new album is that even though Staley died, they kept the vocal harmonies between Cantrell and the new singer. And that was always what made the band stand out, because most of the other grunge bands had one singer.

Yea, though it will never be the same without Staley. I think the black guy is doing very very well.

Their best album is probaly Dirt. From there, their self titled, and Jar of Flies are fantastic as well.

Loved AIC for the reason that they were the antithesis to the grunge scene they found themselves caught up in. Too grunge sounding to be a metal band yet too metal sounding to be classed as a grunge band. I've not bothered to check out the new album yet, I just don't think I'll like them as much without Staley on vox.

Sorry, forgot to put that in my first post.
