So, do we put Heaven And Hell up as a seperate band or not?

And any volunteers for CoC?

I'll try and do another band over the weekend.

Is anyone down to do Nile and if so, can I steal them?

Actually there a quite a few bands I'd like to do that others have, but there are only like 4 of us who've actually posted: is anyone else actually going to start posting?

It only takes me 15 minutes to throw one together, so I'm happy to do quite a few: I enjoy writing and it makes a change from short stories...

Blind Guardian

Biography
Blind Guardian is a power metal band from Germany. They originally were under the name of Lucifer's Heritage back in '84, but had to change it because another band had the same name. The original members were Hansi Kursch (vocals) and Andre Olbrich (guitars). Through many changes, they ended up with a line up of Kursch (vocals/bass) Olbrich (guitars) Thomas "Thomen The omen" Stauch (drums) and Marcus Siepen (other guitars). The band then continued, soon they released Battalions of Fear which shows more Speed metal elements then anything. The band continued to make excellent albums, leaning more towards the power metal side of things once Somewhere Far Beyond was released. Before doing that, they released Follow the Blind, a speed metal album which was heavy, but very awesome. The band continued to be very awesome throughout the years, and in 1997 Nightfall in Middle Earth was released which is one of the most well loved and well respected power metal albums. This album was also based on Tolkien's The Silmarillion. However, during this album Hansi dropped bass and gave it to Oliver Holzwarth, who would be somewhat like the "crouching tiger of the band" for he was credited as only a studio and live member. Afterward, Blind Guardian released A Night at the Opera which is based on a Queen album. The band took a much different approach to the point where Thomen got annoyed and left the band. He was replaced by Frederick Ehmke. A few years later, they release A Twist in the Myth which is a pretty good album. They are currently working on the next album, and I suspect it will be very awesome.

Current members
Hansi Kursch (vocals) (1986- Present)
Andre Olbrich (lead guitar) (1986- Present)
Marcus Siepen (second guitar) (1987- Present)
Frederick Ehmke (drums) (2005- Present)
Oliver Holzwarth (So called "session and live member", but he's like the fifth man of the band. He plays bass) (1995- Present)

Previous members
Thomas "Thomen the Omen" Stauch (drums) (1987-2005)
Marcus Dork (guitar, only played during the demo years)
Christoph Theissen (guitar, played during demo years)
Hans Peter Frey (drums, only played during demo years)
Thomas Kelleners (vocals, 1984, don't believe he was included in any albums).

Recommended albums
Albums of Blind Guardian are always awesome, but here are the top guns, the creams of the crop, etc.
Battalions of Fear - The perfect no filler all killer album. This album is a speed metal masterpiece. It combines fast paced guitars, fast drumming and cool vocals all into perfect harmony of melody, rhythm and speed. Choice cuts from the album are Majesty, Run for the night, and pretty much the whole damn thing.

Nightfall in Middle-Earth - Ah, the filler but still killer album. The reason there is filler is because, well, it's needed to tell the story in the album. This is one of the most well received albums by critics, and for a good reason. The melodies are beautiful, the rhythm is fierce, and it is still somewhat fast. It's a tremendous feat. Choice cuts include Into the Storm, Mirror Mirror and Blood Tears.

Follow the Blind - Speed Metal with hints of thrash. This album produced so many beautiful things. From start to finish it's a wild ride. The opening track is actually one of my favorite songs, and this album produced the Power Metal Anthem (Valhalla). Overall, the album is an excellent speed metal choice. Choice cuts are Banish From Sanctuary, Valhalla, and Fast to Madness.

Recommended tracks
Banish From Sanctuary - What can I say? I love everything about this song, the story, the riff, the solos, the vocal hooks, absolutely everything is eargasmic. Heck, the song seems to portray a theme that is quite valuable within itself. Overall a beautiful masterpiece.

Battalions of Fear - Title track off the first album. I love this song as well. Riffs are catchy, vocals are catchy, and the solos are mind blowing! Then again, the album is a no filler all killer!

Mirror Mirror - MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL TRUE HOPE LIES BEYOND THE COAST YOU'RE A DAMNED KIND CAN'T YOU SEE THAT THE WIND WILL CHANGE. Oh my God. The solos, the vocals, the riffs even - Mind blowing, One of the first BG songs I heard so it will always have a special place in my heart.

Bard's Song - If you've ever seen BG live, you'd understand why. If you haven't think of it like this: A ballad that is actually good. And unlike a boring crowd, the crowd can sing half of the song and it always brings joys to many. It's a very good and catchy song as well.

Valhalla - VALHALLA! DELIVERANCE! WHY HAVE YOU EVER FORGOTTEN ME VALHALLA! DELIVERANCE! WHY HAVE YOU EVER FORGOTTEN ME! VALHALLA! DELIVERANCE! WHY HAVE YOU EVER FORGOTTEN ME! OOOOOOH OOOH VALHALLA! Catchy, heavy, awesome riffs, and awesome solos. Crowd favorite, because they chant the chorus for a long time after the song ends. One thing I don't understand is why they leave out one of the solos when they perform it live- that solo is one of the best parts of the song. Still though, awesome 'til the end and seems to be an anthem.

Hope it's good, I thought I did well, etc.

Also, I love this idea. So awesome and can help some people realize awesome bands.

Looks good to me, rocks. Only thing is, that I would change necessary tracks and albums to recommended ones like everyone else has. You could also add some links in there to the songs and some other links like to their Last.fm page, Metal Archives and Wikipedia.

Yes looks good man, but we need to add a members section, and work out some formatting issues. Would you like us to add your name to the contributors list? If so we can let you look through the band list and you can add some bands that aren't included. I think someone else already had Blind Guardian though, we'll have to ask them if they still want to do it or if your post will be fine. Let me know if you want to join, and I'll contact brute and demand that he give me admin privileges on the spreadsheet because he's quickly losing interest in this.

Brute, open up the list. Rocks wants to join in, so he needs to add some bands.

And Brute, you said yourself that you can't see yourself doing ten more, so it couldn't hurt to give up a few eh?

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

Blind Guardian

Former Members
Thomas "Thomen the Omen" Stauch (drums) (1987-2005)
Marcus Dork (guitar, only played during the demo years)
Christoph Theissen (guitar, played during demo years)
Hans Peter Frey (drums, only played during demo years)
Thomas Kelleners (vocals, 1984, don't believe he was included in any albums).

Recommended Works

Essential Tracks

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but can you edit out the annotations in the essential tracks sections? I mean it's cool that you explained the tracks but to preserve the continuity of the posts I think we shouldn't add anything new.

Also, I made a few formatting adjustments and grammar corrections. Otherwise great post man. When you post to the blog, you will have to redo the links. It's not difficult though, there's an easy linking tool on the posting forum on blogger. Just make sure you make the name of the websites and the tracks names clickable to the links
