Yeah I've played it a little bit lol. No one plays in my area so it was kind of a bad idea for a hobby. I do have myself an elf swarm deck if you ever want to go to war though. Not sure if some of the cards might be outdated or not. My grasp on the rules is somewhat limited because I never played humans. I had to go by rulebooks and ask people on a lot of it. I get the gist of things though.

I play. I have the xbox game, it's pretty fun but I am annoyed at the lack of customization. You have to keep the cards that come in the base deck, the only optional cards are extra ones you unlock.

My tournament deck needs a lot of improvement. But then again, it is kinda dumb to play vintage tournaments with strictly Zendikar and M10

Maybe when I get home we'll battle it out hamachi style. I could get back into it again.

I could also play Pokemon (6v6) and Yugioh. For Yugioh I'd have to get updated again but it's pretty easy.

go for standard tournements. me and palpi of lor were trying to get ready for that and we were almost there... then suddenly we lost interest. go figure. we will prob get back into it in the summer. too much crap gong on now. vintage is a whole different animal. the decks we were trying to complete are on mtgvault.com somewhere. website for deck building. havent been on it in months.

I don't have the money and time to play competitively in real life. I'll play competitively online (although I have a lot to learn for MtG) and I'll play for fun in real life though.

i dont have the money either. if you check out the decks me and palpi were making online, youll notice that they all go for budget ideas. we have no money and we were coming up with some weird alternative solutions. some worked. most didnt. but it is possible to make a decent deck when you are strapped for cash. its also very easy to trade. thats how palpi got most of his important cards for his decks. he was going for 4 abyssal persecutors at one point. i think he almost got there. but then again, we lost interest. worst time to do so. lol

Yeah budget decks are really cool. That's what my elf deck is. It cost $50. By turn 10 it's ridiculous. I'll have like 20 guys out which are 20/20 each or something. Idk it's intense. If there was a mirror elf match that would be the most epic thing ever.

i know what your saying. ive played a mirror elf match before. but it wasnt that awesome. the game became, "who is gonna get decked first?" the decks were just made from cars in out collection so what do you really expect? lol if we were playing real good elf decks though, it probably would have went faster. theres some insane ones out there.

My deck is something like this:
4 Bramblewood Paragon
4 Devoted Druid
4 Heritage Druid
3 Imperious Perfect
3 Jagged-Scar Archers
4 Llanowar Elves
3 Nettle Sentinel
3 Regal Force

3 Coat of Arms
2 Elvish Promenade
3 Hunting Triad
3 Gilt-Leaf Ambush

21 Forest

I think that's my elf deck. Not sure. A couple of the cards might be off by one. I seem to remember running 20 forest and not 21 but maybe I do run 21. It's pretty fast. No Skull Mulcher or whatever or that Tar thing. I don't know...kind of old school and fun. I came up with it from scratch pretty much and I thought it was pretty cool. Let me know if any of these cards are banned yet because I did make this several months ago...
There also might be some new cards out that are a must-have or something.

Me too. I love to make decks that slow down the other person and trade off cards. Slower anti-meta decks. Often toolbox style.

Looks like I'm going to be playing again. Found someone to play with. We are both going to make a budget standard deck over the summer and then fight when we meet up in college next year. So I'm doing research on decks I might make. Most likely this will be a monocolor deck because those tend to be the cheapest. I don't want to have to buy expensive land cards to play.

A vampire deck would be really nice but it's way too expensive for me.

Budget RDW might work, but it's way too unoriginal for me lol.

A Goblin deck would be sick but I wonder how effective it could be. Strong possibility though.

A good elf deck is too expensive right now.

A token/overrun green deck is looking like it would be both very cheap and very strong. It's also looking like it would be the most difficult to construct. Strong possibility.

A white weenie deck would be very cool, cheap, and effective. The only thing I don't like about it is that I'd have to skip out over the deck thinning land cards, so no perfect deck thinning engine. That would hurt the playability in a gross kind of way.

goblins will turn out to be expensive. the cards you NEED in order to be competetive are like 10 dollars. a playset of them would be alot. Goblin guide is like 10 and so is warren instigatar and they are prettty much essential to a goblin deck. then again, i havent checked prices since like december. whats your budget? i also tried a version of an overrun. it didnt really playtest well for me. do you have magicworkstation? very helpful.

i havent played magic since the winter but im prob gettting back into it again once summer kicks up and i have the money.

Yeah I could get 4 Warren Instigator and 4 Goblin Guide for relatively cheap. The low prices on them are $3 and $2, respectfully; and medium prices $5 and $4. Thing is the rest of the deck is dirt cheap.

My budget is like $40-$60ish. So basically I'm going for mostly commons and uncommons, important rares, and really I don't want to touch any of the super expensive mythic rare cards or any expensive land cards.

I used to have Apprentice but I don't have any MTG programs right now. I'm going to get one so I can play test things without having to go through the tedious process of making a paper deck.

My overrun deck would be something like...

4 Llanowar Elves
4 Jorga Treespeaker
3-4 Kozilek's Predator
4 Nest Invader
4 Leatherback Baloth

2-4 Bestial Menace
2 Eldrazi Monument
4 Overrun

18 Forest
3 Khalni Garden
2 Oran-Rief, the Vastwood

That would probably be like the core of the deck, maybe with some tweaks. Then the rest I'd have to try things out. The side deck would be pretty cheap and useful against RDW. Great Stable Stags are kind of expensive but would be good to have at least 3 between main deck and side deck.

No Garruk Wildspeaker is admittedly ugly but in all fairness the deck should be playable without him since I would just assume my opponent would kill him with something lame like Lightning Bolt before he could actually do anything. That's not every deck but yeah.

Elf decks are fun. So intense. I remember my elf deck could get like 20 40/40s out by turn 7 or 8 or something. So intense.

arent the stags m10? i wouldnt get them since they will be phasing out pretty soon. no point in spending the cash in my opinion. if you can get them cheap or off a trade though, that would be ideal
