Taxer is banned from this thread.

I love them. I don't care if they're a core band. They're newer stuff is absolutely amazing and they've kinda stepped away from their core roots.

Eh, not my cup of tea. I do like Pull harder on the strings of your martyr, but it's such a blatant rip off of Carcass. Even the introduction solos sound border line identical.

my one argument for why that argument is wrong is that:
do you think some rediculous band like trivium has EVER heard of Carcass? never. they dont know their music that well

im a small fan, but i dont think the knowingly ripped off carcass

Could have been accidental. I know everything I've ever done in life was accidentally copying something else I heard about or saw. Like me saying this right now...there is some movie or something out there where a guy says the exact same thing. I just don't know it. I'm sleeping and someone is reading a massive book really really fast.

Oh, back on topic. Yeah I like Trivium some. Haven't listened to them for a while so I need to give it another shot to see how much I still like them.

I normally hate stuff like that but I loved Ascendancy. I'm not past admitting that it's a little overrated though. Shogun is infinitely better.

To be honest, I think the emo look and everything was kind of just so they could get popular. I mean, look at them now. Plus, they do know a lot about the music. They give pretty interesting interviews. Corey Beauliu is always wearing some sort of death metal shirt so I doubt they're oblivious to Carcass though.

Ok, then i guess ill buy it
but according to that, we assume he loves emperor, which we can assume he likes Carcass.
Ok, so we agree (i do) that he likes Carcass
then why would he steal from them? i assume he is a much bigger fan of Metallica and....that other band.....drawing a blank.....
why would he rip of carcass?

does that make any sense? why carcass of all things? why not another less-known band

For one thing, Matt Heafy likes Emperor. Have you ever seen an emo wearing an Emperor shirt?

Plus, almost straight after they became popular with Ascendancy, they went from this:

I think Shogun's easily their best album. It does have some metalcore in it, but it's mixed with a lot of thrash elements.

Listen to the whole album through. I garuntee you'll like it by then.

they even use Megadeth riffs.

Exactly. A Rip-off Megadeth band >>>>> a rip-off Metallica band
