Okay, so I now this probably only applies to like five people here, but what is everybody reading right now? What types of literature sparks your interest? Favorite books?

Right now I am reading Walden and Other Writings of Henry David Thoreau.

I read a part of the Communist Manifesto, it seemed pretty cool. Going to pick up some philosophy books at the library so I can have something to do over the summer.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra - Nietzsche - Very interesting, when you can get through the poetic language.

He says eveything in the first 30 pages. He's just repeating himself after that. Me and Nietzsche never did get on: I always felt a stonger affiliation with Sartre and Rand.

Anyway, I'm reading "Oranges Aren't the Only Fruit" by Jeanette Winterson for what must be the forth time.

I just finished up the story of Joaquin Murietta (the dude who inspired the Zoro tales...lets just say he was a million times more bad ass) and then read a fictional story with his character in it called Daughter of Fortune based on the opium battles with China and Britian in the early 1800s and the Gold Rush in California.
Since school ended in April I've plowed through a bunch. On the Vietnam war, King Henry and the Catholic vs Protesant battle in the 1500s and...hmm I already forget.

I plan on reading more Douglas Coupland this summer, same with more Douglas Adams. They are both hilarious.
I recently bought the Mummy by Anne Rice since I exhausted her Vampire and Witches novels. I have yet to dive back into academic reading but I have a complete Norton anthology of contemporary theory and criticism on my bookshelf that is waiting to be read. It has every literary theorist who has made a name since the late 1800s. Amazingness.

I'm getting through the second book of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. It's kinda funny that you are all talking about philosophy and I'm reading a book about a guy who shoots lobster-like creatures and opens a door sitting in the middle of nowhere (still in the beginning)

@DF - the stuff you post isnt usually repworthy or meaningful. sheer #'s in posts will decrease your likelihood of recieving rep, whereas only posting occasionally and making your posts worth reading will cause people to hang on your every word. thats why.

@Sky - Good thought, but he's not blk. I know him in reality and he's super pale.

I'm black - jk.

My teacher thinks it's the greatest book ever written. I'm only a chapter in but I really don't want to read any more, let alone write and essay on it. Sad

Oh, and I don't think it really counts as reading but I'm listening to this podcast book called Infected by Scott Sigler. It's fucking great.
