If you want the best recent Maiden song (even then it's the best song they've done in over 15 years) this is it

Agreed...if only the rest of the album was up to par with this and Dance of Death...

The thing is new Iron Maiden is great in its own way and it has its own atmosphere and feel. I haven't heard the most recent album but the two before this were great. Iron Maiden is a legend of a band...not only did they produce unbelievably good music for a very long time, but they are continuing to do so while keeping up great variety.

By the way it's easy to listen to some songs and call the one you like the most the best. It depends on the person though. I find great merit in all the new Iron Maiden songs, including Paschendale. I have my favorites and sometimes they even change. And often times I'll have a rather cognitive understanding of why I like a particular song the best.

Dance of Death is the best album they've done since Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and even then it still has some filler tracks. New Maiden kinda sucks dude, it's like they've hit AC/DC mode where they just write the same song over and over again, but instead every song is fucking 8 minutes long.

Dance of Death is an awesome album. I agree on the Pascendale too. But compared to most of the new stuff, Powerslave is like a greatest hits album

It makes me so sad when legendary things age and they are no longer cool. I'm pretty godamn sure Pokemon was the coolest godamn thing to ever exist. I tried rewatching them in school last year and I'm like wow this plot is extremely generic. The only reason its cool is because I naturally like videogames and this program is like a game in which you collect stuff and gradually get better. Iron Maiden is a legendary written in stone band. I watched their Flight 666 or whatever it was when most of the documentary was them playing songs and hardly any interviewing, Bruce was still God-like. But I can hear and pick out notes that he is beginning to struggle to hit. Actors age and can no longer play signature parts. Slyvestor Stalone almost died making The Expendables. Stone Cold Steve Austin almost killed John Rambo. Yeah. Austin had accidentally hit Slv too hard and it almost broke his spine creating an awful chain reaction. The doctors had told Slv to cancel the movie. Even when Slv was starting to age in Rocky movies, an actor almost paralyzed him with a strike. I also hate how I get tired of awesome things. I will have an absolutely badass background but I will eventually hate them all. I can't help it, I just grow weary of repetition but love routine, it doesn't make sense. I also cannot stand how I get tired of songs that are amazing. I drove to work most of this month and drove....everywhere. I had a metal CD on with about 12 songs. I think I heard that CD probably 12 times. I am so sick of those songs that I love. I can't stand being torn like this.
Its unfair really

Those filler tracks you refer to are the ones with their own unique atmosphere and feel that are really awesome if you are in the condition to enjoy them. It's the same thing with Xasthur. Is it boring or do you just not enjoy it?

Why the hell would I care whether or not other people agreed? It's not going to change the fact that I genuinely enjoy new Iron Maiden. I don't need outsiders to justify what I already experience. If they disagree then they can suit themselves.

I remember I sold my $100 tickets to a metallica show so I could afford a ticket to see my girlfriend who lived 5 hours away. Kinda wish I had seen the show as I was online dumped after lol

I'm with VR. I love new Maiden. The thing I love is that they've not just become a nostalgia act churning out new albums just to have an excuse to tour. I know, they're my favourite band and all, but AC/DC and other old bands like them can become pretty guilty of that. They're new stuff is amazing and unique in it's own right. I love the idea that they're playing a ton of new stuff on The Final Frontier tour. Sure, I still want to see the classics like Hallowed Be Thy Name and Number Of The Beast, which they will undoubtably play, but I think it's great how they don't just ignore their new material and play the same 15 songs every tour with a few from their most recent album thrown in like so many bands their age do. Their last tour was an appreciation of their classics and a chance for younger fans to see them play a tour with nothing but their greatest hits. Now they're giving their fans the chance to see them play a setlist almost completely made up of material from the last 10 years, something not many bands will do.

I'm just a fanboy though. Razz
