I'm just waiting for the New Wave of Finnish Folk Metal to be considered a genre...

I think legitimate discussion on this forum is hard to find.

I love Taxer, but he is usually the one to ruin any legitimate discussion. And among metalheads, there is only a minority of pimply, nerdy black metal dorks who will bash anyone who likes a band with more than 20 listeners. Most -core is looked down upon in the metal community simply because they like the other stuff more. But the majority of metalheads out there couldn't give a rats ass that I like folk metal, melodeath, power metal, nu-thrash (don't know what you're talking about, most "nu-thrash" bands are insanely popular among metalheads these days) and even some metal-core. I listen to nearly everything, and am not as closeminded to dismiss and entire genre.

most of the time I'm just trying to get a reaction out of you guys when I say "fruity" power metal but there is a little bit of srs in it.

I don't really want to argue about it in every single thread though. It seems as if the entire forum is at each other's necks. Pretty soon, people will be leaving, just like what happened before with Hate.

I miss hate too. And I'm not going to leave. I value everyone's opinions. It's just kind of annoying how we can't have legitimate discussions anymore. I'd like to be able to discuss something with you Taxer without your rebuttal always being something completely opinionated. I understand you don't like "fruity" metal but it would be nice to discuss stuff with you seriously at times. Also it would be nice if you would explain your point of view if I say something you disagree with (such as how most of these bands aren't folk metal in my opinion). You kinda did that but not really.

They just are folk ok? Besides, the MA lists most of them as folk anyway. (I checked when I made this) I'm down for serious discussion, just that it's easier (and usually more fun) to troll than to be the minority voice. I am very opinionated and I get frustrated when people are like "yeah ok you make a point and it makes sense but I still won't agree with you."

I get that, and they are all definitely folky to an extend. Empyrium is definitely folk. The stuff you posted for them is folk metal, but I was just pointing out that most of their material is just neo-folk. And thank you. I know you're really educated and very opinionated (I am too, but not as much I think Very Happy) but I like discussing things seriously with you

Sorry Taxer, you are not permitted to post anything relating to folk metal.

Disoblige this thread.

Doomsword is one of my favorite bands. Basically epic metal with a bit of doom and folk in it.

I just had an epic orgasm.
