PostSubject: New PC   Sun Oct 24, 2010 9:41 am

So I recently finished my fIrst attempt at building a custom PC:

Games like a monster and a lot cheaper than me upgrading via Alienware again. It was surprisingly easy to put together.

Nice, building your own PC is always the best option, you can get alot more for your money along with the sense of accomplishment of building it yourself Smile

XIGMATEK UTGARD case with Antec True Power 650W PSU

Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.06ghz (I've overclocked it to 3.7ghz) with Titan Fenrir cooling system

6GB Corsair DDR3 Tri Channel RAM @1600Mhz

1TB 32mg Cache SATA II Hard Drive

Asus P6X58D PREMIUM motherboard running the Intel X58 + ICH10R Chipset

Nvidia Fermi GTX460s DX11 in SLI (MSI Afterburner overclocked)

With the money I saved I also bought a Razer gaming set including the Lycosa keyboard, Mamba mouse and Megalodon headset. I think I'll be getting the Nvidia GeForce 3D vision set soon as well.

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEYUM, that's nice. Get Black Ops or something and we should game. I wish I could get a new GFX card, that is all I really NEED.

I wanted to get a 5970 but I couldn't afford it so I went with the best option for the money I had. What card you rocking at the minute?

The parts came to just over 1060. It was another 200 for the keyboard, mouse and headset.

Err, why would I get 1 card when I can have 2? I might have considered it if I was just getting the single card as ATI outdo Nvidia in that respect, but SLI 460s have proven themselves to be superior to their CrossFire counterparts. It also only cost me 300 for the pair.

It's just a shame the rest of the 400 series is a power hungry, overpriced, overheating pile of shit.

We pay insane tax in UK, but a similar spec Alienware with a slower RAM clock, crappy bios and shitty Dell service is about 2400 so I still saved a lot.
