FIRST UP: Atrocity - Hallucinations (1990)
Download: http://frozenthronedownload.blogspot.com/2008/01/atrocity-hallucinations.html

Atrocity plays epic movie scores in the vein of Lord of the Rings with gothic overtones. The woman's soothing vocals soar over some of the most beautiful dark clean male vocals I have ever heard. The sound elicits a near-erotic physical reaction in the listener.

SECOND UP: The Skaden - You Will Hope I Had Died (2009)
Download: http://finsternis1945.blogspot.com/2010/08/skaden-you-will-hope-i-had-died.html
http://iwrestledamusicblogonce.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Next up is an up and coming ska band from Miami. Oddly enough, despite the origin and style of the band, The Skaden incorporates some nontraditional dark themes throughout the album that are very exaggerated under the trumpet. It evicts emotions of sipping coconut milk and alcohol on a summer afternoon with friends.

BONUS (optional):

MCMJ - Organ Whore (US Version)

My apologies for the ridiculous thread. A friend or two thought it was funny and we contributed to the abomination.

So there isn't actually a Slipknot album included in this?

I've still not done Taxer's. I need to listen to Darkness Eternal.

There is none lol. It's just 2 albums. Atrocity and The Skaden. The download links are in the blogspot links. If that's unappealing then a simple search for "band album mediafire" would suffice.

I've been listening to both of these albums a lot lately. I hope some people like them. I tried to pick things that most people haven't heard, that I liked a lot, and that were likely to be liked in general. Or more like things that wouldn't be hated in general...

I'm still confused about the slipknot picture. Was that to make us rage upon opening the thread?

And I'm going through Taxer's choices I'll be done by tomorrow most likely

If you already heard it you don't have to listen to it again unless you want to. So you can do whatever you want. I tried to check some people's last.fm accounts to make sure they haven't heard something already.

Those who claim to like metal but don't like death metal need to be burned and died. That being said, I'll check out these albums soon enough. I've already heard Atrocity before (albeit not this album) so I expect good stuff.

I thought it was kind of boring my first listen through. Then I listened to it like 25 or 30 times. If you've never been into a rawer death metal band before then you probably won't care much. It has lots of momentum and very hateful and aggressive bits. The lyrics tell a cradle to grave story about drug addiction. It's like an empowering form of music.

Atrocity:

I was surprised by how unconventional this album is. It's some pretty awesome osdm but there's just these really weird moments that make you go wtf. Nevertheless, it's not to the point where it distracts the listener, rather it kinda enhances it (sorta kinda). Overall, pretty decent stuff. 8/10

The Skaden:

This one was also a nice surprise. Knowing VR, I thought it was going to be some shitty bedroom black metal, but lo and behold, it wasn't. Rather, it's pretty "proggy" (in the weird awesome way, not the lame shred way) black metal. Lots of cool shit and I feel like I'm getting a bit redundant here but fuck it, whatever. 8/10

skaden isnt an up and coming ska band from miami

i hate you. ugh

for raw death metal, i was quite shocked. i liked that i wasnt immediately turned off by it.

LOL!!!

I'm so glad it worked on someone.

No offense Brute but I was counting on it being you. Otherwise I would have said "the joke is over" a while ago.

Although...believe it or not, the picture isn't a joke. That is Atrocity--new Atrocity. I should have probably tried to find a picture that had the band logo on it or something.

Byd, this is how it starts, you know. One day it's "I like Blink 182", the next it's "I think I like men".

Atrocity were alright, which is about all I can say for most death metal. But they wre fairly listenable. I managed to get through the whole thing and enjoy it, but I doubt I would want to listen to them again.

The Skaden were surprisingly good. I was expecting some "kvlt" black metal with awful production and unimaginative songs about Satan, but instead I got a fairly melodic, proggy band I quite enjoyed. I'll likely listen to them a little more.

neither were really my thing though i enjoyed skaden more than atrocity because it was closer to something i could get into- it had interesting elements and weird unconventional stuff which i like to hear. didnt like the vocalist. i think i would like them more if they were instrumental i think or at least had a different vocalist. it didnt match to me.
