Yeah, but the only original piece to your guitar is the body itself, you customized the hell out of it. It has a power metal tone in it, with the alder wood body and active pickups, nothing really thick sounding.

And dude, I seriously think you soldered you wires backwards. XD

To be honest, there was no soldering to it. Emgs now have easy plug in. And I did plug them into the right spots. And fuck, you could put active pickups on a stick and it wouldn't sound too different to the untrained ear lol. I was considering getting a maple body, but that is really expensive. I just got a little tlc for it, then it's done.

the fretboard actually does add to the sound. but wtf happened? lol. anyway, ill say i personally like alder for metal. my washburn is alder, my ibanez is basswood, my bc-rich is some mahogony knock-off i forget, and i think my ltd is mahogony (not sure, prob basswood). i get the most crunch out of my washburn if that counts for anything. i like all woods though. personal tastes i guess. and to be honest i really would rather not have a floyd rose if i could avoid it. dont trust (reason why i realy havent played my ltd live yet).

but also, i dont like fenders either. the feel just doesnt work for me and single coils (though i noticed you swapped yours) not my thing. also, fenders just look to normal for me since they are the "iconic" i guess, guitar. idk

necks.... tuffy. my ibanes is a wizard II. very thin. love it (its also a VERY smooth neck btw) on the other side, my mockingbird has a pretty beefy neck and i love that too. both fast playing guitars. sometimes i do notice the "claw" effect with my hands on the ibanez but it doesnt bother me because im used to it so much. im pretty easy when it comes to adjusting to things.

you dont go full maple. maple is only used for the top to add brightness. if the whole body was maple, it would sound trashy. go mahogony with a maple top. that seems to be popular

I am keeping it alder, so it wouldn't matter. My guitar looks more like a super strat then a normal strat anyways. Anyway, Ibanez's neck feel freaking awful to me, it just feels like a board. Wizard II is probably the worst neck I have ever played lol.

ive never minded it but then again im pretty used to it and ive come to like it. it feels natural to me. for some reason, with extended playing, my hand used to cramp up sometimes on beefier necks so the wizard was great. i just really got used to it. though recently i have only been playing my washburn and mockingbird which has which have thicker necks, so when i start playing my ibanez again it might feel a little weird.

Alright, link and I were getting in an argument about this today:

Bridge pickup is use more for rhythm, and the neck pickup is used more for leads, correct?

No, it isn't! Do I have to fucking bring in the wiring diagram to you Kc for you to understand???? It has been wired correctly. The bridge is more for leads, the neck is more for rhythm. It is just really preference from what I see on the internetz.

No. The bridge has a thicker, crunchier sound to it, while the neck has a fatter, crisper tone to it, and while yes it is preference for what you use for what, let me ask you this.

If you are playing a rhythm piece what would you use, thick, and with backbone, or something that sounds cleaner?

While playing through a solo which would you use, something that has a lot of crunch while you're trying to blaze through licks, or something with a crisp, clean tone?

WHICH THE FUCK IS IT?

MY neck has a thicker, meatier tone to it, while my bridge just is lighter, and more defined. I tend to use my neck 81 for everything, just because I love the way it sounds. When it comes to bluesier stuff, I use my bridge, for it has the better sound for it, but when i want cruchier stuff, I use my neck.

actually the pickups being backwards shouldnt affect te overall characteristic of the tone that much. the general reason for necks and bridges sounding the way the do is because of where they are on the guitar. for example, try strumming your guitar without it plugged in at the bridge- its brighter. strum near the neck or on it- much darker and rounder sounding. thats why stuff sounds the way they do. pickups obviously affect it, but in the cases where the same pickup is used for both places, there is still a change in sound. thats why.

but yeah, in general the bridge is used more for rhythm because it has more definition. the neck usually sounds rounder and smoother. but i hear that alot of doom bands use the neck for rhythm because its darker sounding. and also alot of people just prefer to use the bridge for everything. the brightness makes some styles of play sound cleaner. ive also heard of people switching. it doesnt matter where you put the pickups, people do have them in both spots i think. i think mine has the 85 in the neck and 81 in the bridge. i dont really pay attention though lol.

This.

That and I play a lot of Opeth stlye stuff so that would be perfect for me. I need a guitar that's better suited for metal anyway. I'm quite a fan of Les Pauls as well, they're what I'm used to playing and they aren't that different from Explorers.

LOR, I've gone into shops and played guitars worth 500 quid and just walked out with a "KTHXBAI". Buy a pick or two if you really feel guilty about it.

Yeah, I'm starting to panic because I need a disortion pedal before I play a gig on the 19th of Febuary but I don't wanna get a shitty one. I keep asking my friend to get his guitarist lend me one but he doesn't seem to understand the importance of the matter. Fucking bassists...

I have a digitech death metal pedal that Kriov is borrowing. Never fiddled with it much though.
