Slough Feg - The Animal Spirits

This album came out just last year, yet it has tied for my favorite Slough Feg album and one of my favorite traditional metal albums in general. Lots of riffs, awesome melodies, great vocals, pretty much anything you could want.

Nocturnal Blood - Devastated Graves - The Morbid Celebration

War metal, 'nuff said. One of my favorite albums last year. One man band, and met the guy last year at Embrace the Hate. Fucking awesome band.

BONUS

Cruciamentum - Convocation of Crawling Chaos

Only a demo, but it's really awesome and crushing death metal

The only one I didnt have already was Cruciamentum, which I didn't download because the YouTube song made me fall asleep. 3/10

The other two albums are awesome though. Anything Skalzi touches turns to gold... man is a genius.

Norcturnal Blood won't play on my iPod for some reason. I'll try redownloading it.

Slough Feg were fucking great. I think I could really get into this band. I really don't know why I don't listen to much trad metal considering how much I love classic metal, but I'm really inspired to check some more out after this. Cheers for sharing, Taxer. Very Happy

Now, I know I'm far more open minded with death metal and such than I used to be, but stuff like Cruciamentum is still fucking awful. I know it's only a demo but the production was horrible. I could record something better sounding than that. There was no sense of any of it actually resembling music. It was just overdriven noise with some very muted vocals. I got sick of it by the end of the second track. I give everything a fair chance, but I'm not putting myself through that last song.

Tanks for checking it out. And honestly, I think the production is amazing in the Criciamentum album. The guitar tone is suffocating and crushing, the drums are raw, the vocals are awesome, and you can actually hear the bass smashing shit in the back. You need to get yours ears checked bro.

the production is actually alright haha. the only thing i had a problem with is the guitars are kinda muddy and lack presence in mix... and the music- i had a problem with that too- not my thing hence why ill probly never get to listening to the full thing- sorry- cant force myself. but production was aight.

ill give the other stuff i listen to later today prob. im actually in a "lets listen to new things mode" today

Maybe I'm confusing it with just plain sounding like shit. Very Happy

Morbid Angel fan now. Cannot diss.

Listen to Nocturnal Blood too, by the way. Meh. Not my kind of thing. I think I still have a way to go with extreme metal.
