PostSubject: 50 Horror Classics    Mon Jul 11, 2011 12:41 pm

So I decided to buy this http://www.amazon.com/Horror-Classics-Movie-Pack-Collection/dp/B0001HAGTM after downloading some of them here and there. I have watched two so far; only 48 to go! Hopefully I don't end up like this guy http://ryanwatches.blogspot.com/2009/02/50-horror-classics-wrap-up.html who blogged about the experience.

I personally enjoy old, cheesy yet classic horror movies. I enjoy modern ones here and there but I prefer the iconic ones that started it all. Once I finish this collection I may move on to this one: http://www.amazon.com/Pure-Terror-50-Movie-Pack/dp/B003VOVW2C/ref=pd_cp_d_2

I know alot of people don't have patience for the slow paces, old school graphics etc. but I prefer it to some of the torturous movies of today (even though I do love the zombie-effects of modern day horror).
Thoughts on old vs new?

Oh man a damn 50 pack. I watched a lot of episodes from the Twilight Zone, some of them are actually kinda scary. One episode they make a slot machine scary, well as scary as it could be, which was pretty good. It all comes down to acting, since the effects can't scare you, its going to come down to how convincing the actors play the part. If it doesn't seem real, then you see through the effects and see through the set and it sucks. Modern day horrors can get you with sound and visuals at any time

both are pretty bad. pretty sure the best horror was made in the in between. like the omen.

I have not watched that one yet!

I watched Nightmare Castle last night. Not really scary but it has these lovely graphics: http://blogs.commercialappeal.com/the_bloodshot_eye/nightmare%20castle/nightmarecaslte7.jpg

thats actually pretty good-looking (in the gross way). omen isnt jump factor scary either. its the concept which creeps you out the most. the remake has more shock moments. it was actually a good remake as well i thought.
