So since this is a gaming section!
D&D, White Wolf, and other shit. Hell, let's even make this a Warhammer and 40k thread.

Anyone besides me awesome enough to play it? Very Happy

If so it's storytime! Very Happy

What edition of D&D do you guys like the most. Anyone run anything interesting recently?

I started up a new little mini-arc in 4th edition, which is the main edition I play right now. Mainly due to how effortless the mechanical aspect of prep is once you know how to stat out NPCs. Basically we had a few characters left over from a game that was run by a friend (who happens to need to work on his skills...a lot) but said characters never got their closure, so they wanted me to change some aspects to fit my homebrew campaign setting and so "Reclamation of Souls" began.

I decided that it would be nice to try an epic level game in order to get a feel of how 4th edition epic is done, especially since my last game which was one level off from epic got cancelled. The first session I learned that targeting the healer meant the party desperately needed rest, however they learned that a friend was captured so next session, while drained on resources decided it would be a good idea to find the friend.

And so it would have been a TPK (total party kill) within two rounds, if not for one of the characters being a changeling, and transforming into the creature's nemesis. Immediately, I decided that the idea needed to have something interesting happen. The creature, a being of pure shadow and hatred told the party that they could escape if the changeling stayed...

This happened, and the changeling was tortured for a week before dying finally. And was revived by the cleric soon after.

It was a very interesting turn of events! :o

D&D sounds fun as anything but I'd have trouble finding people to play since it's one nerdy thing that you'd still get severely looked down for if you publicly stated your interest in it...

I want to play DnD. When I move with a few of my friends in a few weeks we are thinking about buying it and starting to play. But I do play Magic: The Gathering, if that counts. I also play more casual board games like Risk and SmallWorld and stuff like that

The funny thing is D&D is actually not all that nerdy. You go out and actually physically chill with people for a few hours, cracking jokes and with luck get some gaming done. At least that's my opinion on the matter. Very Happy
It's better than staying in and playing WoW for hours on end.

Regardless, people do consider it rather nerdy, but oh well, haha.

Random sidenote, oddly, I've gamed with about 5 women over the course of my D&D life...4 of which were at least somewhat attractive and all of them actually WANTED to play, lol. Then again, one of them was my most recent ex (who is also a ****, but no need to talk about that, lol), so meh. Either way, generally it's not too nerdy of a hobby, especially when you consider that the time invested isn't too bad. Yeah there are people who basically run their lives around it, but there are people who have their lives around music so meh.

I actually have a GIANT 400+ page wiki dedicated to my game, which IS nerdy. But I actually enjoy doing it, it is a nice timesink to work on when I'm bored. Then again, I run some pretty good games, so I suppose it's worth it, as long as I'm not blabbering on about it in public. XD

I am proud of my nerdiness! The problem is with other people who aren't so much...

But yeah, it sounds really interesting, and to be honest, would be an awesome social thing to do if I could find people to do it. I find nerds to actually be far more social and easy to talk to than "normal" people.
