PostSubject: Decent Online Guitar Lessons?   Sun Aug 05, 2012 1:02 pm

I've been meaning to improve my technique for a while and decided to have a look at some online guitar lessons...the problem is that they all suck. Anyone know any decent ones?

Band Happy? Tyler already directed me to it. It looks really good, but you have to pay for them, and I was more wanting just some videos that help with technique or something, since I'm completely and utterly broke right now.

Build your technique yourself. Do your fretting and picking exercises, and learn scales. Your technique will improve drastically just by knowing scales like the back of your hand. And right hand technique is what you want, just do some simple picking exercises. There's really no lesson that will teach you better than that.

I'll look up a few things, see what works for me. Thanks for the help!

Metronome + Practice Technique From Hell (Google it) + A ton of free time - Sanity

It's one of the faster ways to get results in my experience. Tedious beyond belief, but it is ultimately worth it.

Also, every other day, look into a new scale and try to implement it into your playing the best you can...or even finding new keys to play old scales in. Oftentimes you may realize you play certain things in keys to the point it becomes habit.

I think the site LOR mentioned is Guitar Messenger...there are actually a few, but I found a ton of very useful things on there. There's a pretty good Devin Townsend interview and lesson on there I think.

Ultimate Guitar does in fact have solid lessons, but a LOT of their lessons are really, really bad.

I actually have invested a bit of money in technique books, for example, I have a few Theory books, and some lesson/tab books by Chris Letchford (from Scale the Summit)
