PostSubject: Is there a single Magazine worth subscribing to?   Thu Apr 11, 2013 9:49 am

Interests:

Hockey: Read about it daily online, nothing I wont know

Music: Interviews aren't interesting

Gaming: Online is the only way to go

Now I've read a few GQ and Playboy is pretty good. But I still don't feel like I'd get through most.

Suggestions?

I hope Dies Irae posts, I feel like English Mags are pretty sick. I read one great one, I think the theme was mostly mens fashion but I can't remember what it was called

Music: sadly, Terrorizer, the last bastion of metal in the world of zines (at least on a large scale), has declined over recent months. I no longer purchase any music mags apart from the odd Classic Rock if I notice an article on the cover I'm interested in.

Mens interest: GQ and Esquire. Pretty much the only ones that aren't a silly soft porn meets sickipedia farce. I don't subscribe but I do tend to pick one or the other up when I go shopping. Oh, I nearly forgot, The Chap is good too: aimed more at the older 'refined' man (read pipes) but it has some decent sections.

Film: Total Film. Some great articles, the interviews always have more depth than most. I only really buy it because they don't post the articles online (which is just reviews and 'the 50 greatest...' vids), otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Specific interest: I buy Computer Arts magazine, pretty much the best digital art zine around.

i used to order classic rock as well. actually just stopped my subscription though. dont have time to read them much anymore, plus the free cds have gotten worse and worse. they used to be really interesting a few years back (they actually introduced me to 3 of my favorite bands on one cd), now it just seems like bland normal "rock" and stuff everybody already knows.

I was a big fan of Official Xbox Magazine since they came with Bonus Demo discs. But since the Internet happened and demos are easy as shit to download online. They aren't so valuable anymore, plus I have a PS3

Total Film eh? What are the articles like? Anything worth looking into? Better than looking at imdb stuff?

I might be down for some GQ. How much is it a year? 20 Pounds? But even still a lot of that is online. Need to look at Esquire

I used to Subscribe the Guitar Magazine with the tabs. Started getting too many cds piling up though.

I've gotten Game Informer for quite some time. Mostly because they give you a free subscription when you get their membership card, but even that's almost obsolete because you can read most of the articles online (albeit some a week or so after it was released in printed form) GI is great though, they do get a lot of interesting exclusive interviews and demos and whatnot.

PC gamer is great too, but that's one I just use the website for. I like it simply because they get more into the indie games that Game Informer doesn't talk about.

Terrorizer was a great magazine, but I haven't actually gotten it for awhile. I get most of my metal news online, or just by keeping up with what bands are worth a damn.

Other than that, Car & Driver and Motor Trend are great if you are into vehicles. I'm into them to the extent tha tI will actually pay for a subscription, but when I'm taking a poop at my Dad's or my Brother's I can find some pretty interesting articles
