Let's have the same for films of the year
Everyone submit 2 options and we'll narrow it down from there

Strong Candidates that you may want to choose from:
American Hustle
Her
The Wolf of Wall Street
Gravity
12 Years a Slave
Dallas Buyers Club
Nebraska
Captain Phillips
Philomena
Blue Jasmine
Blue is the Warmest Color
Frozen
The Hunt
Inside Llewyn Davis
Iron Man 3
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug
Lone Survivor
Blackfish
Prisoners
Thor 2
Monster's University
The Great Gatsby
The Conjuring

As my nominations I would put forward Her, and The Wolf of Wall Street as the best movie of 2013

I hardly saw anything this past year. I'd put in This is the End, and The Hobbit. American Hustle I thought was over-hyped.

This is the End was pretty funny. A stretch to say best of 2013 in my opinion but that's fine lol.

Haven't seen American Hustle just yet - people are over the Jennifer Lawrence train and I don't even think she's a main character.

I have to say I thought the Hobbit was pretty bad too considering my expectations
Sorry to trash your picks haha

im over it.  im a LOTR fan boy. and i havent really seen anything else.  I was kinda limited to those movies plus anchorman 2.  And I thought this is the end was better than anchorman 2

dont know why people hate the hobbit though. Its not LOTR. i thought the second one was better than the first in any case. I had a blast watching it

After hearing about the Oscar nominations and probable winners, I'm curious as to the aptitude of these movies. Deep down in my heart, I hope Leonardo DiCaprio is able to successfully cast off the stigma of Jack from Titanic and be recognized for something else. I thought his performances as of late (especially Django Unchained, despite that it's a 2012 movie - but whatever) were believable, imposing and characteristic in a way that I haven't seen many actors pull off in recent years.

He did an extremely fine job in The Wolf of Wall Street.
That was one hell of a performance.

He should've won an Oscar for The Departed

He was one heck of a douchebag-criminal, very likable at the same time. He doesn't have a chance with The Great Gatsby. Some critique him for "only appearing in AAA movies", but honestly....What kind of an insult is that? Maybe he's making them AAA?
