The Elder Scrolls series, tied with the Neverwinter Nights series, are the greatest role playing games ever created.

Period.

End of story.

Being an RPG player really isn't too bad. I doubt you'll turn into a super nerdy rpg maniac like some. And I think RPGs are the most rewarding games to play

Well if you want Oblivion with guns, try fallout. Although I find it significantly worse than oblivion...

But you can make your own spells and shoot fire and lightning at innocent bystanders! That has to account for something!

The side quests are the best part sir. Join the dark brotherhood and the thieves guild. All you have to do is murder someone to get an invite to the dark brotherhood (assassin's guild) and steal something to get into the thieves guild. Those are my highlights.

And you should probably be an assassin or thief class. YOu should probably use the premade classes for your first serious go through. Plus, that way you can shoot people with bows and arrows

The bow and arrow is okay. I mean it's just like shooting a gun

And I would reccomend being a Wood Elf if you want to play a stealthy character

im a dark elf

i hate this game. ug
my problems
1) very hard to pick locks. i mean, i dont understand the theory. i remember you telling me you have to listen to differentiate the lockpicking sounds. i dont hear it. its "deaf" luck.
2) fighting is stupid. it just is. i can stealth attack with the bow and its one hit kill.
3) the dialogue is boring. mass effect was mildly entertaining.
4) potions are dumb. i dont see the pleasure you get
5) the map is huge
6) persuasion is hard. i dont get that damn wheel
7) bartering is a bitch.
8) what do i train and where do i get teh money?
9) potion, spells, fixed spells, the thing that always watches over me, the whole spell and majic tab is utter jibberish to me

i think thats enough complaining for now
im not making fun of you, im just frustrated that i cant seem to comprehend "the greatest rpg of all time"

1. Lol fail, use autopick then
2. Who are you aiming at? Rats and goblins? Wait till you fight enemies that know yo ass is there
3. Stop talking to useless characters
4. Don't make them, its for people that feel like alchemists
5. This is a bad thing?
6. Its a mini game, use bribes like a real man
7. Lol seriously? You move the bar a little bit over for every level
8. Your the one who picked the skills you want to train, and do quests
9. Let me simplify this. There are spells and potions. You can put them on a quick tab, or you can use them right away

The lockpicking system in Oblivion is shit compared to in Fallout.

Oblivion you just guess and hope your right.
In Fallout you can manuvuer the pin with less chance of it breaking.

The lockpicking in Oblivion is easy as shit. All you have to do is

A.) go to the GODDAMN shrine of nocturnal and do his quest and get the GODDAMN skeleton key! All you have to be is GODDAMN level 7 GODDAMMIT!

or

B.) Watch for a GODDAMN pattern. Knock the f***ing pin up three or hour times and figure out when it sticks at the top the longest. When it does this, hit the f***ing GODDAMN A button and you're golden. It's not hard

also, i ran into another problem....i forget which Mage guild im at, but its the one where the blonde guy asks you to go upstaris and unlock the cabinet to get the book and he'll then tell me where some guy is. well, he teaches you a spell to undo locks. my problem is, every lock i go to,m it says my skill level is too low. so im trying to figure out how to raise my certain skill. it aint easy.

i have collected a shit load of shit. im sure there is a shit load more of shit i have yet to see and encounter

Well when you join the mages guild you will get reccomendations from all of the guild halls. Plus, if you go into your journal and find the quest that you are talking about, and hit A, it will tell you where you have to go to do the quest.

Also, I wasn't being sarcastic with my lockpicking post. If you do the Nocturnal shrine quest, you will get an indestructable lockpick so you can do auto lockpick every time.

But the mini game is fairly simple like the speech mini game, it just takes awhile to figure it out.

What you do when you have few lockpicks is save before you pick the lock, so you can reload if you fail. But right now you could focus on other things because you will likely find a few lockpicks in dungeons. Also, some blacksmiths have lockpicks. Just check around at shops and stuff. Since you aren't a magic user your alteration skill will be far to low so don't worry about raising it, because you will not level from raising the skill. What you do is when you start getting money from alchemy, you can start investing in trainers. What you should do is train skills that aren't major skills, so you can raise more skills without leveling. This will make your character much more powerful when you are done leveling because you can only train 5 times per level, making trainers worthless when you reach the level cap.

Sorry if that was confusing

Awesome! But make sure you train skills that are not on your major skills list so you don't gain levels. That is of the greatest importance.

Like I said, the potions will be mostly useless to you. The only thing that makes them worthwhile is they will sell. Plus, you can harvest things while you quest so it doesn't take much extra time

That occurs by itself. I turn a fantastic profit from alchemy. I was telling Brute last night that I make about 35k gold every few in game days, because i get every ingredient I find on my travels and take an extra ten minutes to make them and sell them. It's very easy money.

Also, remember to do the nocturnal quest Brute. The skeleton key is invaluable. You can look it up online for more info

I don't use it for info about how to do quests and stuff, but I mean it's good when you want to know more about a certain item or something.
